Thats because strikerless tactics are an absolute abomination and should, realistically, be punishable by death by firing squad. Not, not over dramatic at all. Entirely reasonable. It's like the man has a bloody sensor in his head that alerts him to people dissing his baby

Fellas, I'm finishing my part of the save tomorrow, had some personal stuff to deal with most of this weekend.
EDIT: Apparently not, been a really busy day haha, barely had a chance to start up FM.

November
Things are getting pretty serious now lads, we're into our last 2 months, and the situation is not looking very good. Results wise, we're actually pretty decent, but we're without a proper striker, and the game decided to spice things up a bit more, because fuck me, that's why. More on that later. We have an interesting schedule, first 2 games against bad sides that we're expected to at least win considering our situation, if not completely destroy them. The other 2 will define the season pretty much as they are against teams that are right behind us in the table. Let's not get carried away though, we all know what lower league football can be like, and that there's no clear favourites in any game. Let's begin with Mirandes, shall we? Mirandes(H) 2:1Thank God we didn't mess this one up, I was really expecting a draw here. We conceded an unlucky goal, but overall it was a straightforward win, not much to say about this one, except that Keko is carrying us to the promotion. 3 points in the bag and we march on! That result means we're on top of the table, if only for a short time! Nice sight to be honest, I could get used to this. As we're obviously the biggest side in the world, all our good players get regular call-ups to their NTs and we use that to postpone our games, because we have no one nearly as good enough on the bench, and why should we play without them in the first place? Now comes the part where the game shows its disdain for me and anything I'm trying to accomplish. Thank you game, I honestly hated the idea of having someone remotely capable playing up front, why should I feel happiness? There's no need to mention how I felt when this popped up, so let's pretend this never happened and that everything is fine. We're off to Fuenlabrada, and at this point I don't know if it's a licensing issue or these clubs are really called like this. Fuenalbrada(A) 0:3Yeah, we played a left winger as a striker and got one of our best wins of the season. I've given up on trying to understand how this game works, and I'm just happy it sometimes doesn't kick me in the nuts. Well played lads, you're really trying your best to not be massive failures, and I appreciate every single one of you. First signs of trouble arise, and our on-loan midfielder that I barely ever played requests to go back to his club, and I can't find a good enough reason to keep a pissed off 5th choice midfielder with us, so I allow him to leave. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to do this, but no one undermines my authority. Except Kone, obviously. We have a chance to really stamp our authority on this promotion challenge, as sides around us drop points left and right this early in the season. It's lucking very, very good so far. We have a very interesting schedule now, as the postponed game comes back to bite me, and we have to be at our very best to stay alive in this race. If we get 4 points, I'd be over the moon honestly, we can't hope for anything more with our current injury situation. Next up, Almeria, home game, a point will do. Almeria(H) 0:0And a point it is! An unremarkable game, low on chances, low on quality, a point is more than fair enough, we'll take it! As the great Tancredi Palmeri once said so eloquently, "There's no really time to relax and enjoy an espresso for Deportivo.", as we have an away game just 3 days later, and I'm sure Zaragoza will do everything they can to thwart our plans. Luckily for us, I'm in charge and we're not going to let them. Zaragoza(A) 0:2DANI GIMENEZ, HAVE MY BABIES. This man literally saved us, the stuff he saved was absolutely amazing, he looked like prime Casillas out there! We were really supposed to lose this one, but the man did everything in his power to prevent that, and I'm so happy I didn't give in to the bitching of our 2nd goalkeeper. Once again, our left winger pretending to be a striker scored and we got a scrappy goal in extra time. There's nothing I love more than a proper shithouse win. We came out of a tough month basically untouched, and deservedly end it as the league leaders!!! Now imagine if we didn't have to cope by playing players out of position, we'd basically be champions already(not really). An amazing effort, we really keep it tight at the back unlike my ex. One more thing, the league finally decided to acknowledge who the best man in the league is, and we get our first award. This'll go nicely next to the Manager of the year award, I'm sure. That marks the end of a beautiful November, and I'm getting really, really close to the end of this amazing chapter. I'm not going to get too emotional, I'm saving that for the next update. Thank you for reading, and stay tuned for my final update before passing on the save!

Some great work here Kova, truly solid! I'm nearly done with the save, 3 more games to go, and I'm sad to let it go haha It'll be up tomorrow afternoon, we have some spicy games and I'm leaving the club in a very good position no matter how those games pan out! It's been a pleasure.

Excellent work, Kova. I'd feared the worst from the opening line of that update, but you pulled it out of the bag nicely - great stuff. Looks like we've been a bit unlucky on the injury front, but we've been dominating games nonetheless. Everything is set up nicely for ttgb and that's all you can ask for.

To be fair, those are fairly standard injuries, the ankle break was a horrible tackle, bigger issue is having next to no squad depth.
Not many players got injured this season, at least not before they went to their NTs.

December
This is it boys, the final month for me, and it has been a wild ride. We had some highs, we had some more downs, but it all ended up being one of my favourite Football Manager experiences in a long, long time. I'd like to start off this post by thanking everyone that's been reading my updates so far, and to all of the boys for showing me love despite my posts not being of the highest quality. My FM skills are a lot better than my writing skills, and that's pretty telling. Let's get into this month which had some really interesting games, and one unexpected result which left me shocked to say the least. Our fixtures for the month: All 3 league games are pretty juicy to say the least, and this is where we find out are we actually any good or we just had some immense luck that's about to run out! On the first day of the month, we're off to Numantia who are hoping for a promotion this season, which means they're counting on winning majority of their home games, which they've been pretty successful of so far. Numantia(A) 0:0
A pretty shit game to be completely honest with you, no one looked particularly arsed, we both had one good chance which we missed, of course, and that was pretty much it. Of course I'm happier than they are because we'll absolutely smack them in the reverse fixture, and a point away from home to promotion rivals is massive. We lost our top spot, but let's be real, there's plenty of points to be dropped by everyone until the end of the season so there's really no need to even think about it. As long as we're not any more than 4 points from the top spot, we're absolutely fine. Next up, we're away, again. Why not? Our next victims(hopefully) are another quite famous side, Racing Santander. They're really awful this season and they find themselves at the bottom of the table somehow. Lower league football is unforgiving, and doesn't care about your feelings to paraphrase Ben Sharpie. However, because of that there's no way we can get complacent as we've seen multiple times how dangerous every single side in this league can be at home. Racing Santander(A) 0:1
Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, we scraped a vital away win with a goal from that man Keko, we would actually be ruined if he got injured at any point so far. He's capable of getting a goal from out of nowhere and he loves blasting them in the far bottom corner. I love him almost as much. You simply have to love our defensive efforts, it really takes a special goal or a cross to beat us, and that doesn't happen all that often. They really are a wonderful bunch of lads. And now, the game we've all been waiting for, a clash of the titans. Rayo Vallecano is a well known side that have been something of a regular in La Liga before getting relegated, then promoted and then relegated again. Seeing they're freshly relegated, it's to expect they're favourites to go straight up after this season. I mean, just look at this It's fair to say I shat my pants before the game when I foolishly decided to check them out. I mean, Milic, Mario Suarez, Bebe and Ulloa are worth more than our entire squad most likely, and they're really amazing this season as they're beating pretty much everyone by very healthy margins. However, we're not everyone, we're Deportivo de La Coruña, and we're here to prove we don't care who's on the other side of the pitch, we're coming for you. Rayo Vallecano(H) 4:1Hahahahahaha, get absolutely fucked you overpowered wankers, you didn't expect this, did you? They may have dominated us, they would most likely win had they not got a red card, HOWEVER, they didn't and they got a red card so we took advantage of that. It was honestly beautiful watching them have one dangerous attack after another and scoring some shit goals to negate everything they've done. If I lost a game like this, I wouldn't play FM for a few days honestly. The red card was pure stupidity from Luna, and he really decided the game for us. An inspired performance from Agbo who seems to really like these crunch games, and a top class sub performance from Beauvue made this win possible, and we showed we're here to beat anyone who thinks they're getting this promotion on our behalf. I know I said that the table means nothing at this point, but I only said that because we're 2nd. Now it obviously means we're winning the title, the cup and the EL next season. We also rubbed it in a bit by making our young star the youngest player ever to play for us, and he had a debut he can be proud of. This marks the end of my league campaign, and there's no doubt it went as well as it could have, especially considering everything that happened. For my final game in charge, we're playing a cup game against a lower-league side, and it'll be a perfect farewell for me. Lermeno(A) 0:4I used this game to give some of the bench boys an opportunity to vent their frustrations on some amateurs, and boy, were they frustrated. Very clinical performance, everyone was at the top of their game, and we have a bit of a gem in Axetxe as his set-piece delivery is top-notch, an useful player to have in the squad for certain. It was quite emotional for me, and I'm grateful to the boys for giving me this performance one last time. They of course don't know I'm leaving as they're not real, and I'm being dramatic, but damnit, I loved this save. Other clubs apparently can't search for staff so they decided to pay us 250k for a mediocre scout, which we of course accepted without an attempt to persuade him to stay. I can use the search function, so suck it Real Hispalis. Honestly, I have no clue why they paid actual money for him. This is who we got for free, on lower wages Give him half a season and he'll have perfect knowledge of Spain. I sent scouts out to find us a striker, and you'll have to do a bit of digging around to get some money to afford this lad, but he'll most likely be a difference between playoffs and direct promotion If you ignore the fact he'll be homesick by the end of the season, he'll be a brilliant signing. There's something beautiful happening over at our youth academy I know this doesn't mean a lot, but a full-back that's homegrown and has plenty of promise? Sign me up. Now for the boring part, contracts I'd suggest getting rid of Rolan in January for any fee if possible as he's on 20k a week and he doesn't want to sign a new contract, so yeah, any amount is better than him leaving on a free. I made a few contract offers for players I believe will be useful or at least will fetch a decent price in the summer. Rest of it is completely up to you, I'm not going to interfere obviously. Some staff are also in their final 6 months, so take a look there as well Rayo decided to be a bunch of immature pricks and not let us finish the year on top of the league, so they paid off the FA to play an extra game Dear lord, what a sad little life, Rayo. You ruined my night completely so you could have the top spot and I hope now you can spend the time there on lessons in grace and decorum, because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on. Oh, also, I talked to a fella on Twitter who's also playing with Deportivo, and we're completely fucked financially. TV money goes to Madrid teams and Barcelona, there's no prize money for promotion as far as he knows and we'll get a hilariously small budget once we go up. Luckily, I'm not the one that has to deal with that so I don't care. Just joking, but yeah, have fun with that. I have to be honest, it's not looking promising in financial department. I know we can't do much about it as pretty much every side in the league is in the same situation, and no one actually spends money in La Liga apart from like 5 sides, so we're not going to be in that much of a disadvantage. On my last day, I checked what my board thinks of me, and it put a smile on my face. I now leave the club in your very capable hands, there's work to be done, basically everything needs to be improved with time, but you have a really strong base to work on, and I hope I did you boys proud! Once again, thank you for this opportunity, it was amazing. And with that, I bid you farewell and wish you all the luck in the world in restoring this once great club to its former glory!

A pretty perfect six months, Kova. As I said previously, it's not easy being first up in these types of saves, but you've smashed it to be honest. Your writing is also better than you give it credit. I'll be interested to see what changes TTGB makes and if he makes any tactical changes. I think the financial situation will sort itself out in the long run, even if we have to put up with a few years of little money. Who knows, if we unearth a gem it could resolve itself. The good news is that we're in a strong position for promotion. No pressure ttgb!

Yeah, there's not much you can do about the finances unless we get a top class regen to sell, which is unlikely to happen at this point. I have a feeling he might tweak the tactics quite a bit, the entire time I felt I'm missing something that would allow us to properly dominate games, but who knows, maybe this is our peak. I have no doubts he'll be able to guide us to promotion!

Congrats Kova on a terrific first stint. As Nicko says, it's maybe the toughest and most boring place to start, and you absolutely smashed it. Regarding your updates, I think they are fine, I would only make one small advice and that is to try and make everything smaller haha. Use a smaller font and try to shrink the pictures a bit, but that's just my personal preference and they look absolutely great as they are. Also, a word of praise, alongside this small criticism, I love the way you write, I find it very entertaining.

January 2020
Firstly here is a screenshot of how the squad is looking, no fancy Ben type view, I have seem to have lost of my saved views. Took this so I could compare to the end of the season.
My early observations were that overall we are heavily dependant on the loanee's but have a couple of decent players out on loan that could do a job for us. I didn't want to play about with the squad too much. I managed to secure some contracts but there were a few that wouldn't entertain the discussion, that includes Rolan who will leave at the end of the season on a free transfer.
I didn't change much with tactics, I generally been playing a 4231 tactic in FM20 and that continues here, the only things I changed were a couple of player roles and instructions to give the team a bit more intensity.
One player arrived during the window. I wanted to add a bit more height and heading power to our back line. Spanish defenders are often short so his presence will hopefully be felt at set pieces. He actually did very well for us so I extended his loan deal to run until Summer 2021. We pay his full wages which isn't much.
We had a busy month with the cup games also thrown in. Too be honest I was glad the cup run came to an end so I could focus on promotion, and utilised the squad players in those games. I wouldn't say it was the best of starts but the tactically changes will take some time to bed in and we have a couple of players out injured or suffering small knocks. Sabin Merino stepped up well and picks up my player of the month award.
We end the month at the top of the table.

February 2020
A nice short month and I am starting to get a feel for this squad. Looking more deeply at it, we clearly lack leadership which I think is why we keep conceding late in the second half. I will keep sending players on courses but this will take a while to solve. Goals seem to be flowing despite the lack of a clear out and out striker.
We extend our lead at the top but our defence does worry me slightly, especially away from home, a few tweaks are being implemented.
Talking of tweaks I have made some behind the scenes, firstly the youth facilities are going to be upgrade and a director of football as been hired to assist with contracts. The other matter was I have changed some staff responsibilities so the manager is now in charge of buying players for the youth and B side. I noticed they were spending our money on shite so removed that and cancelled all deals they had lined up.

March 2020
The month of the youth intake. fmkova already highlighted the summary of our intake and it looked promising. I would describe it as average especially when you consider long term aims.
I signed quite a few, mostly to fill out our under 19 squad as a lot of them will be leaving in the summer. Stand out players are:
Edgar Villaverde Rodrigo Gomez Pablo Sanchez
None are going to set the world alight, as usual the stars all change once the sign a contract and out of the 3 above I think Pablo Sanchez is the one most likely to make the first team squad.
Our unbeaten form continues and that is all I can ask for at this stage. March sees the return of Kone and he as seemed to have found his scoring boots.
Has the seasons draws to the tail end of the campaign, our lead is extending.

April 2020
A really good month. Three of the teams we played are fighting for the playoff positions whilst Mirandes are fighting relegation. There are no easy games from here on in. A couple of defensive tweaks are working.
The league is there for the taking. One final big push through May and into June.

May and June 2020
My turn is complete and I will hand over mid June to give the next player more time to shape the squad for next season, I think you will need the time and a small miracle.
The win over Rayo secured us the title with plenty to spare. We went to smash a few records in the process. In the end Kone came good. Now one of the decisions for the next manager is what to do with Kone. There is an option to loan him again but despite the goals (came 4th in the league), I don't think he is BBvA quality and we should consider an alternative. There is an option to buy him for £850k.
Those who have been counting would have realised that the win on the final day of the season meant we hit the 100 point barrier. Conceding 25 goals in 42 games is amazing but we will have our work cut out next season as we will start it without a keeper in our squad. Jovanovic returns to his parent club, whilst Gimenez announced his plans to retire.
A lot of work is needed on the squad. We have just over £200k in the bank but despite this the board have agreed a budget of £5.9m and there will be a spare £140k in the wage budget. A lot of that will need to go towards a decent keeper and striker. Perhaps we will need to utilise the loan market to fill out the rest of the squad. We have a couple of players returning which will mean we have excess wingers.
There are a number of player contracts up for renewal but nobody worth keeping and most won't sign anyway. I have signed up all the staff that were any good but now we have been promoted we should entice a better group of applications.
If there is anything I have missed please ask or check for yourself

Sorry two more things.
1 - be careful, a number of our players have low minimum purchase clauses in their contracts.
2 - After a bit of scouting I managed to find this guy, who generated without a club or must have been released. Looks promising.
