We really need to be more careful with contract offers. This is one of a few bad examples.

Oh God, that's pretty bad. I don't think I once checked the release clauses of anyone except Jude and Kaio, not sure if I renewed anyone's contract.

We really need to be more careful with contract offers. This is one of a few bad examples.
Forecast- We will need to evaluate giving out new contracts to the following players, who have low release clauses: Diego, Hugo Madruga, Yves Dabila and Toni Lato. I would offer them all reasonable deals, while upping their clauses. They were all signed recently though so there might be a bit of reluctancy to re-sign so soon. - Javier Montero's contract ends up in June 2022, as well as his loan contract with us. He's been a great player in this two seasons and a half with us, being a starter all the time, besides he's nation home grown. I'd suggest we try and sign him. Víctor Mollejo our other loanee has a long contract left, and he's highly regarded by Atlético, having a high release fee as well. I doubt we can afford him, but maybe extend their loan for 2022-23 might be interesting if Atlético is willing. - We have 4 players with expiring contracts. Mujaid Sadick is the only starter, and I'd re-sign him, he's wanted by Girona and I promised to sell him if his clause is met (duh duh). The other two interesting players I'd renew are prospects Juan Rodríguez and Trilli, both with enough potential to be starters down the road, so easy re-sign for me at least. Finally the fourth player is Ivan Strinic, one of the team leaders, but on the decline after his injury at the start of the year. Also the LB position is quite covered, only re-sign if deemed neccesary for team cohesion and for a low price. - Besides Sadick, who's wanted by Girona, Fortuna Dusseldorf is sniffing around for Uzoho, who has a respectable £5M release clause. He's good and has still a bit of room to grow, but nothing we can't replace, I might even say that our young prospect Pablo Brea might step up if needed. I also promised Lucas Torró that I'd sell him, as he wants football and I preferred youngsters Condemi and Monteiro ahead of him, his clause is of £3.7M and I doubt we can get half of it. - Regarding incoming transfers I think we're good for what we want to achieve. I think we can challenge for a UCL spot with what we have and specially as fixture congestion won't be much of a problem in the second half of the season. We do need young players though and I'd enphasize we spend there. Currently the B team has 2 players and the U-19's 13 players including those on loans. Manual scouting can go a big way here, specially after the youth intake date. We have £8.5M left in the transfer budget and around £70k per week left on the wage budget. - I think with a bit more of luck I could've been challenging Barcelona for the title. We lost/drew a few games that could've gone our way with a bit of luck here and there, but we werent. Still, I think Europa League qualification is the minimum and we should get it, while I'm positive we can even hold on to the UCL spot we're in, despite it being hard as I assume Atlético and Real Madrid will recover from their horrible first half of the season.

Cheers lads, it was a great road!
Well, I did mention it on my handover report. I think Guido did what he could with those contracts as our status was fairly different at that time, securing the players was the priority and he did.

So you did. Managed to get him a new deal despite bids from other clubs.

Nick are you ready to take the mantle Nicko? All I can say is we drew Spurs, PSG and Roma in the ECL and going into the final two rounds there are 3 teams within a chance of qualifying. WE ARE ONE OF THEM!!!!

Roma must have nightmares with Deportivo as of right now in the save. We're definetely a "Cup" side, a "Equipo Copero" as we say in spanish.

Takeover and July/August 2022
As you will have read, we are doing a lot better than expected. It was highlighted that we were thin in terms of numbers but on expecting the squad I was happy with what I saw. Numbers wise we are not that far off where we need to be. We are heavily restricted in terms of registration rules in Spain. I am not one for big squad overalls and wanted to keep come consistency, opting to replace those that were leaving, we could always promote from within if needed. One thing I noticed was the number of poor quality in the youth sides that were on high wages - £5k plus a week.
Looking at the outgoings first, there aren't many surprises. It was sad to see Sadick leave and there were a few annoyed faces in the changing room. Carlos Fernandez just doesn't do it for me and I think we replaced him with better players. I tried to sell him outright but had no takers, we get all his wages on top of the monthly amount. Matt Smith seemed to play plenty of games last season but is one of those versatile players that isn't really suited to any sort of position. Like Guido I was thinking of keeping him as a right back but he was taking up a 'foreign' spot so I tried to sell him. Again I had no takers but this loan deal works well for us. A decent monthly sum, all his wages plus they have the option to purchase.
Incoming we already heard about Fabio Silva and Montero, who makes his loan deal permanent. I continued to raid the free transfer market, firstly picking up Mahmoud Dahoud who I thought could add a bit of experience to the centre of midfield. Also with good vision, techinique, composure and work rate, I am sure he will unlock defences. Pieto Pellgri comes in to strengthen our attacking options. Well known in FM, if he can hit some form I know bigger clubs will come after him, a tidy profit could be made. Rayan Cherki comes in to replace Victor Mollejo. He looks amazing and I wished I had tried for a 2 year loan deal. Lastly I spent a little bit of money, with the lack of right backs in the squad we need someone decent. One of my first emails in my inbox was a scout report for Vitor Soares, a bit more scouting revealed a very promising right back. He was wasn't transfer listed but his asking price had been set at £11.5m, a bit more than I wanted to pay. A few failed bids resulted in unsettling him and I managed to drive down the price. Early signs are showing he was worth the money.
With the World Cup this winter our pre-season was short and sweet, no real challenges and plenty of goals.
Niggling injuries have played a big part in our start to the season, so much so I had to ditch the training schedule that was in place. Not a bad start but we shouldn't have dropped points against Real Sporting. Rayan Cherki as made a positive start.
On a final note for this update, this kid looks amazing. He is doing really well in training and developing fast. Barcelona were interested and his release was £1.7m. Luckily I put a new contract in front of him before they made an offer.

September/October/November 2022
Sorry I played right through without realising I didn't produce any screenshots as planned.
Tactically I have made some amendments because I didn't think we were getting another possession and creating enough chances. Nothing major. You would have seen my spoiler about out great European exploits but we have been equally as good in our domestic game. A couple of draws which should have been victories but things so far are really positive. Kaio Jorge is now classed as second nationality Spanish which helps registration and he is in terrific form.
Barca and Madrid machines but we are the best of the rest and being so whilst competing in the ECL, where we won our group.
I honestly expected to come away with no points so to win the group I am over the moon.
Going Forward - We have a nice break now, with one friendly planned for December, the second half of the season will be packed with games but our squad is pretty much fully fit going into it. There are no contracts up for renewal so one less thing to worry about. I think we should look to extend Cherki's loan for another season, this will take him up to the end of his contract with Man City.
Also there are a few interesting players at Genk - I was looking for a stronger long term keeper and found Maarten Vandevoordt who looks amazing, a bit of looking around their squad brought up Francis Malunga and Nicky Eerdekens in the under 18s. Worth keeping an eye on those three.

Jesus, I take a couple of days break from FM, come back and we're shitting on half of Europe. Led by Kaio Jorge (who signed him again?) and Jude Bellingham! Credit to Kova for continuing the good work of chaodck and getting us silverware, CL football and into a European final, and to ttgb for carrying that on this season. Everything looks set up nicely. I'll take a look at it tonight and start playing tomorrow morning.

I was aware of the injury prone issue but no doubt if he can stay injury free for a run of games he will score goals for us, can also play out right if needed. It won't be long until Kaio's clause is met, he still isn't capped which is helping us but is also available for Spain now.
Silva usually develops into a mental player but on this save his stats don't look half as good and he has been rotting in the Porto B side.

That help just ran out. He's been capped, played in a World Cup, and scored for Brazil now. Juventus are hovering and talking a lot in the press and the transfer window opens in 3 days. I'll do my best to keep him, but that decision may be taken out of my hands if they meet his release clause. If that's the case, I won't even be able to sneak in the 50% of next sale clause either. Agreed on Pellegri, he was definitely worth the chance. We can manage his fitness easily as well as we have three excellent strikers to choose from, so can rotate without losing any quality at all. Silva will come good. Bags of potential, but needs more games. Obviously difficult with Kaio slaying it, but he could get more opportunities soon...

Okay lads, massive dilemma at the start of the transfer window. Arsenal have been £45.5m for Kaio Jorge. The way I see it, we have two options. A) Reject the bid outright and hope they don't come in and meet his release clause. B) Negotiate a bid for £49.5m + 50% of next sale and see what they say. At this point I don't really see how we can keep him, but if anyone has any other ideas then please put them forwards. For further info, he's refusing to sign a new deal because of the interest shown in him, and is happy, doesn't want to leave etc. but this release clause is going to kill us. I'm happy to not press continue again until we can discuss it as a group. ttgb chaodck Guido fmkova

Cash in, stick with Pellegri and Silva for next season and see if we can find the next big Brazilian or Argentinean forward of the future.

That money is massive for us. It is a huge loss but we have cover. I would aim for option B, could we ask that he is loaned back to us? Or just try to loan him after transfer was complete.

Also, I'd use a bit of that money to give a huge contract to Jude and increase his release clause, I'd be gutted to lose him and there's no doubt City/Chelsea/Liverpool will be able to afford his current clause.

Okay, good to know that everyone is thinking along the same lines as me. I think getting the 50% clause in there could be massive in the future, especially as it's Arsenal, so they're that second tier kind of elite team if that makes sense. They're not a City, Barca or Real etc.
As for Bellingham, Kova, his release clause is £89m, which I think is okay at the moment. If we get an offer anywhere near that, I think it'd be silly not to sell. Not that there's any interest at the moment anyway.
