Am I right in saying that the old-school way of tutoring is now a thing of the past and that 'mentoring' is the only way we can pass on PPM's and personality?

Looks like it, Nick. I can't see any options anywhere for any tutoring. Cleon did a thread on twitter about training, I think he covered mentoring there too.
How have you got on with training so far this beta?

How have you got on with training so far this beta? I was/am really impressed by it, but it seems pretty time consuming at the moment. I seem to be spending more time on training than anywhere else. I'm sure I'll get used to it, and eventually create my own schedules, but at the moment I'm just leaving it to my assistant. As for mentoring, I can see why they've changed it, but it's a bit of a pain having to put your 16 year old in the first team squad just because you want him learning from your 'perfectionist' striker.

I was a bit putt off by at at the start, but I can kinda see now, from a realism perspective, that it's the right thing to do. Your 36 year old world class, model citizen isn't going to want to fuck off over to the U-18's training every week to work with a youngster he's meant to be tutoring, so I guess it makes sense.
I think it'll change how we do youth development, maybe allowing the newly recruited newgens some more time to develop overall before we start forcing personality and ppm changes.
Training terrifies me, so the assistant can deal with that nonsense.

I've just noticed something, Nick. If you go into the training screen and go to the "units" tab, you can add youth players to the senior training squad. This allows you to put them in to mentoring groups with senior players, without having to add them to the senior squad.
