This is really annoying - I just have a player that wants to leave the club, and lost his faith in me, because i did not loan him out - all this because there is no option i could find anywhere, before or after this point, where i wanted to tell him that despite the promise made last year that you would be loaned, I actually want you in the squad - you'll be starting games right here. Infuriating. Ugh yeah I had this as well! I signed a player and had to promise to loan him out, which I was planning to do anyway. I then sold another player of his position so instead of loaning him out I played him regularly and he still got unhappy. Super frustrating that you can't tell them that, and they don't understand this is way better than playing for some crappy team in a lower division. It took almost 2 years for him to get over the disappointment of playing for PSV instead of FC Dordrecht.

We had 2 horrendous runs because we faced all the top teams after one another, but this meant we also had a softer schedule at times, and we did pretty well there. I am very happy to finish 13th and with all the money coming in from TV rights, we should be able to solidify our position in the league and hopefully don't look as hopeless against the top teams next season. You may notice the ECL tag in front of our team name, and this is something I'm delighted with! We defeated Preston North End in the semi final and then stole the win in a very ugly final against Manchester United. This is the first time I'll play in the Europa Conference League, and I'm pretty excited about it!

@dirk this has been near incredible. What a run with that 352 / 41212 hybrid, York have overcome literally every challenge put in front of them. Its easy to say the game is easy, in this situation, but please don't. You may get very few opportunities to have a save such as this so don't overlook it. In a few months or years <real life time> you make look back and realise that this was something special.
Enjoy every moment now and take it all the way!

Thanks Robson, it certainly has been a great ride so far and I can't wait to continue with it! Last season made me reconsider whether the game is easy, since we really struggled at times which makes it even more enjoyable. I spent the summer hunting for youngsters to strengthen my wonderkid armada, and I feel like we should be stronger this season and don't automatically lose to the big teams. After a slow start in the new season with 4 points in 5 games (although this included Spurs, Manchester City and Liverpool) I made some small changes to the tactic (keeping the same formation) that so far saw us win 6-0 over Wolves and 4-2 over West Ham, so hopefully that keeps up.
On a side note: I love the Europe Conference League! There are 32 teams in the group stage from 26 different countries, which is such a nice change of pace from the monotonic nature of the Champions League. It's fun to play teams you'd otherwise never play against, and I love this diversity.

I've always enjoyed the 'smaller' continental competitions for the same reason. It's boring facing the same teams year after year in the Champions League, so I like the refreshing change of facing teams from Greece, Latvia, Scandinavia, etc. in the UEFA Cup (as it was) or the Europa Leagues.

First all, great to see the Board rising up in activity during the weekend, with saves from Jawzy and Robson, the save from JT and Reiver, plus the great activity here by Dirk and Reiver as well. It seems the game is good, I've read quite a few great reviews online, specially praising the match engine. Unfortunately I haven't got caught by it. My Argentinos save was decent for a while but somehow I lost almost all interest on it after the first season. Recently after seeing "Next Goal Wins" I decided to toughen up and start a C&C with American Samoa and the country's best club Pago Youth. It seemed interesting at first, but it's too damn amateurish for me on the club level. I don't mind managing minnows, but training 3 times a week sucks the fun outta my development planning. I might go back to that at some point, but not for now.
I really don't know what to do. Before release, I envisioned a save with a Spanish team from their Moroccan territory only with african players, but again I can't be arsed to start that. I might go back to friendly territory and play with La U, but editing the database to make the current players as bad as they are (and Colo Colo's by the way as they are as bad or worse than us). Don't know if I'll make it a C&C to start, might be better to keep it quick as a club save and then pick up the NT if things work out for a few seasons.

Lower league spain is an arse, so thats understandable
But join the surge in East Anglia Norwich, Colchester, Billericay, Cambridge and Peterborough be lacking representation.
Should Kettering, Northampton, MK Dons and Luton be included, as the get covered by Look East sports (yep im somewhere in the vicinty of Look East realms)

Don't forget Braintree, Southend and I think Concord Rangers might be from this neck of the woods too!
I know what you're saying chaodck, I'm struggling a bit with FM21. I bought it just after Christmas but there's a small list of things I don't like about it and I really enjoyed FM20, so I keep going back to that.

I need an idea for a new save. I'm stumped. There are some interesting teams in the third Austrian tier that I have been eyeing for a future save: SV Austria Salzburg and FC Pinzgau Saalfelden. Austria Salzburg had their license bought by Red Bull Salzburg, who then changed club colours, badge etc. Austria Salzburg had to start very low down in the pyramid again, but are back at the third level now and actually have won 3 Bundesliga titles in 1994, 1995 and 1997. Pinzgau Saalfelden actually play in the same league as Austria Salzburg and have recently been transformed into a fan owned club. People could buy shares for $500 and then have a vote in how the team is managed. This idea was started by some football/soccer loving Americans, and it seems that a large share of the people that invested are Americans. One of them is the former general manager of Real Salt Lake in the MLS, so they have some ties with that team, although this is not represented in the database. Their current manager is former Germany international Christian Ziege, who played in the World Cup final in 2002. These Football Times and The Athletic (requires subscription) have some cool articles about them. This is where they play their games: Pretty scenic isn't it? Another option I have been looking at is managing in Russia. Mordovia Saransk were in the Premier League a few years ago, but I believe they lost their license due to financial struggles. The amazing Mordovia Arena was built for the World Cup in Russia. Mordovia Saransk doesn't currently play in it in the game, but a look in the editor suggests they'd move there if they play in the Premier League. Not sure what happens with games in a continental competition though, hopefully they won't play in their smaller stadium then. There is a catch though, and that is that Mordovia Saransk currently isn't actually in a league. They have the amateur status, and from what I have read it seems unclear whether they will play again at what level. So you'd have to edit them into a league, probably the third tier or possibly even the second given the low level of play in that league. Znamja Loginsk also seems interesting, in the third Russian tier. They have some unusual club colours, but more importantly, they currently function as an elderly home for former Russian internationals. Their squad includes a 38-year old Roman Pavlyuchenko and 36-year old Alexandr Samedov for instance.

After an extended break from FM stretching back to last year, I've decided to get back on the horse and I've started a wee save with Palermo for now. My love affair with Italian football, especially the late 90's early 00's has never transferred into success in an FM save in Italy

The 2026/27 season is finished and we made some great progress again. We are not too far off the top teams in terms of points, but the reality is that they are still significantly better. We can beat them all on a good day, but Manchester United and Liverpool kicked us out of the cups with relative ease. Finishing 4th however is better than I expected, and it shows that we have a great future ahead of us. No player in my best 11 is older than 21, so I hope we don't even have to bring in that many players to take us to the next level, but just focus on developing internally instead. We also won the Conference League for our first continental silverware! I only just noticed when taking this screenshot that we won all games to the final as well, but the opposition wasn't overly impressive.

My slightly bigger club side project to Chelmsford is going to be in Hungary, a team that in the early 2000s was winning the league, but currently finds themselves in the second tier
Board want to be promted, then to be in the top half, with by the end of the next 5 years look to be finishing third

I was in exactly the same position. Until I picked up this Palermo save the other day, I hadn't played FM since mid to late December (but definitely pre christmas). I just didn't have the inclination to play at all. I enjoy the game though, and I knew I eventually would again. Which brings me to... It took us two seasons, after losing in the playoff last year, but we've secured our return to the 2nd tier of Italian football with one game remaining. Serie B is going to be a very tough nut to crack, I'm sure, but it'll hopefully allow us a bit more financial stability and a better place to develop players!

I'm playing the game right now. Started a save with La U and am already amidst the pre-season. I modded the chilean rules a bit, creating a new structure similar to what you see in English football (league, two domestic cups and super cup) I also lowered the abilities of a lot of La U players (we are really, really struggling IRL). Took me a lot of editing and testing to get it right, but I'm having fun so far, despite how early it is. If I make it through the first season and still interested I'll post about it.

What a ride we had at the end of the season! We hardly played any games in March because our opponents played in the FA Cup and games got moved to later in the season, leading to a brutal schedule to conclude the season. As you can see, we won the Champions League! We first eliminated Monaco, but then I thought Real Madrid would be the end station, especially after losing the first game while creating only 0.08 xG. The boys bounced back though, and next up was PSG, who activated a €87M release clause for our best goalkeeper in January. The away game was the most boring game of the season. I watch the game on key highlights, and there were none this game, except for the final whistle. At home we played very well and beat them deservedly. Barcelona waited in the final and went 1-0 up early in the first halve. Three disastrous minutes in the second half cost them badly, with 2 goals and a red card for Ruben Dias. We kept them pretty quiet for most of the game and we surprised the world by raising the Champions League trophy! Domestically we lost early in the FA Cup to Manchester City, and won the Carabao Cup after Championship side Swansea somehow made it to the final. We were very strong in the league as well but I was a bit worried about the schedule about the end of the season where 5 of the traditional top 6 teams still awaited us. In the autumn we managed to get 10 points from this, so I knew we could beat them but with the games piling up this could be troublesome. It turned out to go really well, and after beating United we were pretty secure to win the league. I am surprised by how defensively solid this odd tactic is once you have players that are capable enough to play out of the pressure. On a side note: Burnley was absolutely garbage and it took them till the last game of the season to avoid being the first team ever to not win a league game in the PL. Meanwhile, our financial position is rock solid since our wages are still pretty low with just 1 player earning over 100k per week. Here is my best 11 (and Rice, the goalkeeper that went to PSG). I am not sure what's next. Next year is the Club World Cup which should be fun, and we haven't won the FA Cup, but I'm also eager to start something new. We have a transfer budget of over €200m so I could just go and spend that I guess, but I'm not that tempted yet.
