Geyland International FC nicknamed "The Eagles", is a professional football club based in Bedok, Singapore that was formed in 1974. They have won the Singaporean Premier League twice, the Singaporean Cup once and the Singaporean FA Cup twice. Why Geyland? Well, I've had a few fun saves on FMT21 this year, managing in England and Scotland and so I decided to try something different. Originally I was going to manage a team I normally manage in Melbourne Victory but when loading the other Asian leagues to make the AFC Champions League more fun I decided to have a look around and came across this team. What stood out to me was two things. 1. Green is my favourite colour so the badge and green kit really drew me in and 2. They are not one of the best teams in the League. I'm not a fan of managing the best team and so this appealed to me. I'm not under any delusions, the Singaporean league isn't exactly world class and although I've never managed there before I'm sure after a few seasons I will start to dominate which brings me to my next point: What are my goals? Well, first things first. I want to win the League and establish Geyland as the best team in Singapore. We have not won the Premier League since 2001 when we were called "Geyland United" after that my goals are to win the AFC Champions League and develop players for the Singaporean national team so we can see them at the World Cup.
This is my first write up for a FM save, I don't normally write about my saves but as this is something different I wanted to share. Has anyone managed in Singapore before? If so, what was your experience like? I will post another update tomorrow, going over the players in the team, tactic I will use and pre season results. Thanks for reading.

Good luck Mikey. I'm sure it will be a cracking write up, and I've certainly never managed in Singapore.

A base game league, that is rarely touched, that I have played few seasons in. I used to like being Home United (they changed name tp Balester) I think?
Tampines is the best side in my opinion, Tony Cottee and more recently Jermaine Pennent once played for Tampines iirc, warriors, have had recet success.

Good luck with this, it's exactly the type of save I like to see kicking about!

The Squad So by the default we only have 14 first team players, so I promoted 7 from the reserves. A problem I came across at first is we are more suited to the right wing, having 3 players who can play there, and just the 1 LW and 1 LM. My problem is I didn't want to play with just the 1 striker, I'm a fan of using a "poacher" but always get bad results with a lone poacher and I didn't want to play with 2 strikers and RW/LW as we would be too attacking. I've therefore decided to play a basic 4-4-2. The problem with that is though, the 3 natural RW have never played as a RM and so are all rated at less than 1 star. I'm training them all to play there and I'm hoping it won't affect their performances to much. Best Player If you looked at our team Barry Maguire was probably the name that stuck out the most, probably because he has the easiest name to pronounce haha! He was born and raised in Holland, but has an Irish dad hence why he's Irish on the game. He actually played up to Under 21 level for Holland but declared himself for Ireland to play for there Under 21's but never received a call up, hence being uncapped. He is literally going to be our talisman this year. He's the first choice: corner taker, free-kick taker, penalty taker and our captain. Best Youngster Zikos is a player you may of actually heard of. He was born and lived in Greece until the age of 10 then moved to his mothers homeland of Singapore. In real life he's got a lot of publicity with him being referred to as "The best finisher Singapore have produced" ironically, he starts the game in the reserves.. Another thing I find funny: SI must not know his height in real life, and so I think he's been given a random height as he is listed at 5 foot 5 but has 14 heading! In real life he's just under 6 foot. I'll be using him as my poacher.
Just a small update this time, next update will be around the half way mark of the season so may be a few days a way. I didn't post any pre season results as I haven't played any yet, we start the season in February 2021 as that's when the League starts, don't think I can start it in 2020... I selected the save to start at our first match of the season and the League is in 20 days time so I'll try get a few friendlies in beforehand.

Good luck with this Mikey! What's the setup of the league like? I believe there is a team with mostly Japanese players and regens there too, I'd think their regens would be significantly better than the rest of the teams.

League is one tier 24 games a season 2 of the clubs are foriegn owned thus cant qualify for AC/ACL
top singapore based side enters qualifying stage of ACL iirc, and one of the two cups or second highest in league gives an AFC slot
on FM20 japanese side would end up winning league alot.
