I need less ideas and more devotion.

Having spent the last year playing Football Manager 2011 (yes, seriously) I gave up as I really wanted to manage San Marino but all the downloadable San Marino league links are broken, not a surprise as the game is 10 + years old. As I suck with the editor and couldn't work out how to use the advanced version, I've decided to buy FM22 having tried it while it's currently free and will be managing San Marino on there. Good thing is there's now a Nations League to go alongside the World Cup and Euro Qualifiers. Hope all is well! You might win or draw a game in that nations league group! Let us know if you get promoted from the group though!

Will do jawzy. Going to be a struggle as I haven't followed football in real life for a good 5 years. I have no idea who even plays for San Marino anymore, hence why I tried playing it on FM11. Oh well, regens will come through and I may consider managing a club as well.

Or go the other way entirely and opt for a database of fake players so you have no idea who ANYONE is?

So, I kid you not, after downloading some graphics for FM22 of FM Scout I decided to browse the FM11 downloads section and actually found a working link to add a load of unplayable European nations including San Marino. Think I'm going to play as San Marino on FM11 and possibly a Andorra club/country on FM22 with the FC Andorra team playing in Spain.
Now, who here would be interested in a San Marino thread for FM11. Tempted to post my progress, will load a load of other low nations to make it more detailed/fun.

Great to seeyou back Mikey, I'd be up for that read, on its own thread or even on here. I've been progressing slowly so far, still in August. Hopefully my save gets more interest on my part.

2022 Season ReportWe just finished the 2022 season and it was a pretty good one. After taking a struggling Universidad de Chile team who has in real life fought relegation for the past two seasons (I downgraded several of the players in the editor before starting the save, even...), and cruising to win two titles was pretty fantastic. The advantage of playing with a big reputation team, plus the burden of continental competition for our rivals and not for us, made it easier in the end but getting the title wasn't easy as this was maybe the most hard-fought league I've ever played in FM. We had quite a mixed bag of results in the second half of the season, losing against both our rivals Universidad Católica and Colo Colo early. Quickly through the second semester, the title fight reduced to four teams, with us, Colo Colo, Universidad Católica and Audax Italiano being in the chase. We managed to have a 5-point advantage at one point, I forget over whom, but that was squandered with a draw against Antofagasta and a loss against Audax in October/November. At that point, with 2 games left, all 4 contending teams were tied in points, with Audax Italiano and Colo Colo having the upper hand as they had better goal difference. The last two weeks had interesting games, as Audax faced Colo Colo in the 37th week and Universidad Católica faced us in the 38th week. Audax beat Colo Colo, effectively eliminating them from contention, as UC and us won our week 37 games. This meant that Audax had the clear advantage of goal difference and needed a win to be crowned champions (except either UC beat us or the other way around by around 5+ goals). We managed to get a good win over UC, with a 2-0 clear result, and Audax shat the bed this time, losing against Santiago Wanderers, which meant we won the title. As I said, we won two titles as we also managed to win Copa Chile (I re-designed this Cup to mirror de FA Cup, with single elimination rounds with replay until Quarter-Finals). We beat a mix of decent teams and a couple from lower divisions, playing with a mixed squad until the last two games. The Cup will never be a priority for me, and I always try to play it with youth players if possible. So it's nice to win it right away. Ronnie Fernández was by far our best player, with 25 goals and 7 assists in 38 games. He's being followed closely by Boca, and at 31 selling him will be a sure alternative if an offer comes our way. Brilliant youngsters Darío Osorio and Lucas Assadi had good spots during the season but they didn't really play good, mostly due to me putting them in positions they don't shine on. Next season I plan on playing them as starters, probably on a 4-2-3-1 formation. Didn't take pics of the intake, but it was quite good. García and Estay are quite standout players, and might even end up being part of the NT setup down the road, but all of them are quality. Might need to work a but on the personality of Oyarzún, though. Financially we're at an ok position, the prize money was good and put us in the blue, but we'll surely need to be a selling club for now, will see after next year's participation on Libertadores to see if things improve without selling guys. The offseason will be interesting, I'll start shaping the team in the direction I want to go and will definetely prevail the young talent over bringing in big transfers. I've got a big name on my mind, a "Chile Golden Generation" player, but aside from him, not much really. In the Chile side of things, we played only a friendly, with a young squad, and drew 0-0 against Australia. We have a couple of friendlies lined up before the start of the 2026 Qualifiers.

Unfortunately the FM11 download I found that has the San Marino league in it has a few errors. Basically, whoever created it accidentally put the wrong dates in, so the San Marino cup has the correct day and month, but the wrong year... Bearing in mind this is FM11 the cup doesn't start until 2021!
Gutted, and I can't find any other workable link, so I'm thinking of creating the league myself, won't be 100% accurate as it's impossibility to do that without the advanced editor.
I have a question for you guys though. What sort of prize money do you think I should add for the San Marino league? I was thinking having first place getting around 10k.

Base it on the Welsh league prize money wise? but 10k sounds fine

I've got the San Marino league winner receiving £5k. I might lower it to either £2k or £1.5k.

So according to an article I just downloaded that was published in some football related journal (in 2015), San Marinese clubs turned over roughly 85,000 euros per year. I think prize money of anywhere between 5-10k would probably work.
It might be worth holidaying a season to see just how the finances in the country go. FM I find is particularly harsh in how it treats smaller/lesser developed nations, so there's no point sticking 5k as the prize if your club is gonna be 300k in the red every year.

Got bored when I came home from work and had time to kill before bed.
On my edit file there is no prize money for the league winners, so you're idea of a nominal fee of 5-10k is fine.
Holidayed for 5 seasons, 4 different league winners in that time.
Only 1 club in the league is in the red, I can't see a reason why they in particular have struggled. Most teams have a little bit of money, and the 4 teams that have won the league have significantly more money (most teams have between 2-50k in the bank, but Folgore, Murata and Tre Penne(x2) all have over £1m, whilst the other league winner Domagnano have £750k), so basically, if you finish in the top 3 and get European football, you're going to make plenty of money.
The good thing about that, I guess, is that there's going to be a couple of teams making money, which will push the league forward a little, potentially allowing for professional clubs and transfers...or at least facility upgrades.
I'll keep the save to check bits if anybody wants any info, but other than the above it's not super exciting. It's also 2am, so I should probably go to sleep. Kinda tempted to start a San Marino save though, ngl!

Thanks for checking that for me dalenichol. I appreciate it! I think I'll keep the prize money as 5k for the winner. I've got second place earning £2.5k, didn't want the prizes for first and second to be close as makes no sense, although last place only earns £100! Haha. I didn't want to be unrealistic so most of the teams will earn less than a grand unless they finish in the top 6. Cup winner earns a extra £1k. I think my save is all up and ready so will be starting as the national team soon, but very tempted to give a league side a go at some point.

I finally started my save today. My first match is against Holland in the Euro qualifiers, wish me luck! I was unsure whether to add the citizenship rule, every custom San Marino database has but I decided against it as in real life it takes 30 years to gain citizenship for San Marino. The only changes I made in the editor that affects players is having Mirko Palazzi eligible for San Marino again, on the game he's retired from International football and he's still playing for San Marino in real life right now. Also made Adolfo Hirsch eligible for San Marino as he plays for them in real life but on FM11 he's declared for Argentina, nether of them are game breakers. Plus I could do with all the help I can get as I'll be relying on regens from the San Marino league and the club that plays in Italy.

A little disappointing for some reason the San Marino Under 21's and 19's are not entering the European qualifiers. I'm hoping once I go up the world rankings as I'm currently 207th, they will enter. If not, they have a lot of friendlies arranged so at least the players will play, bit of a bummer though. Not sure why, I've loaded the game without the database and on different patches and all are the same.
