For years I’ve only played FM, despite having various consoles, but the end of my love affair with FM18 saw me plunder countless hours into my PS4.
I’ve recently been going through my ‘bought but unplayed’ list of games and that’s seen me play through Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 and I’m currently a few hours into number 4. I’ve also started playing Until Dawn, which is a bit slow for my liking, but I’ll soldier on.
The Uncharted series is up there with anything I’ve ever played.
With Red Dead Redemption 2 coming out in the next few weeks, I’m looking forward to splitting time between FM and the PS4.
What’s everyone else playing at the moment?

I'm an avid gamer. I own around 250 games on Steam (a ton of them either unplayed or under 10 hours, I'll do the stats sometime, haha), around 100 games on my PS4 (including all PS+ freebies, most of them unplayed as well), and around 6 on my Nintendo Switch. I also have a Raspberry Pi configured as a retro console, with tons of old games, for NES, SNES, N64, PS1, GB, GBA, Arcade, etc.
As of right now, I'm playing:
- Madden NFL 19 (PS4): The game I spend most of my hours, mostly on the "Ultimate Team" mode, where I've got a 90 OVR team, have completed all released Solo Challenges, and regularly play the Solo Battles mode. I've also spent around 250 USD on packs since the release of the game. (Fun fact, I had disliked the last 2 Madden NFL games, and considered not buying this one. But I'm having a blast playing). - NBA 2K19 (PS4): Last year I grinded NBA 2K18 MyTeam mode (the "Ultimate Team" equivalent), even delving on playing online (one of my pet peeves), by the end of the game cycle. I ended up having a full 99's team with my favourite players from past and present. This year's version hasn't caught my eye yet, and I sparingly play it. I'm an avid NBA fan, so the start of the season this week will surely peak my interest towards it. - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (NSW): A jewel of a game, albeit a bit too open-worldly to me (I tend to stump on "what to do"). I've beaten two Beasts (Zora and Goron), already went to the Woods as well (no spoilers from me), and have the full map unlocked. Still running away from Guardians though as I've only killed 1-2. I'm currently exploring around, before deciding on who the third Beast will be. - Super Mario Oddyssey (NSW): Haven't played much, it's fun in bursts, but I've got too much to play haha. - Magic the Gathering: Arena (PC): Just started on this, this week. I love MTG, played avidly as a kid, enjoyed fully the Microprose PC game back in the day (Shandalar), then played a lot of the Magic Steam games, before deciding not to play Magic Online as I found it buggy. MTG:Arena is quite fun, you can definetely play without spending real money (I managed to find a neat startegy, if anyone is playing, let me know and I'll share it) and overall, I have a 50% online record, not bad. - Broken Sword 1 (PC): Bought all old BS games on a sale a lot of time ago. I made the pledge of finishing them as I love Point and Click games. I'm around halfway the first one. (7 hours played) - Cities Skylines (PC): One of my most enjoyed games, despite me being absolute shit on them and never ever ever ever finishing a City. I've got all the DLC and have pre-ordered the new one that releases next week. I plan on starting a new city and hopefully I can get to endgame with it. (119 hours played) - Factorio: Again, a game I love despite never getting to endgame. I think I've spent more time watching playthroughs and tutorials than in-game, and I really hope the devs release more campaigns or campaign-oriented levels. (38 hours played) - Mist Survival: A "new" survival-"zombie" game (are they really, really "new"? hahaha). It caught my eye on my Steam Discovery Queue and I jumped on it (for 10 USD it was hella tempting). Despite being super green and clearly in beta, it has potential and several interesting mechanics to it (driving, safehouses, allied NPC's, food/sleep management, etc) and nice graphics. I don't think I'll pick it up again until a new big release. (8 hours played) - Motorsport Manager: The ads on FM made me take a look and as a big F1 fan, bought it at first sale. I enjoy the game, but the lack of realism regarding F1 rules (specially Qualifying) bums me out a bit. (28 hours played) - Rise of Nations: Extended Edition: One of my favourite games when released, the "Conquer The World" Campaign has a ton of replayability. (32 hours played) - Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun: Hard, Commandos-type of stealth game, set in the Feudal Japan. A great game that surprised me a lot, but it's too hard for me and I play sparingly cause of that. (7 hours played). - Civilization VI: One of my favourite game series ever, and finally, after a lot of incarnations, The Mapuche (chilean native tribe), can conquer the world (or whatever map I'm playing), with its brave chief Leftraru (Lautaro in spanish). (81 hours played).
Sorry for the wall of text, haha.

That's a pretty extensive list, chaodck - I thought I was bad!
I looked at getting NBA on the PS4, so that might be one to stick on the Christmas list, given you speak so highly of it. Is there an NHL game as well? I used to play a fair bit of NBA and NHL back in the day, but don't know nearly enough about NFL to even attempt Madden.
Still on my list of games to complete are:
Fallout 4 Far Cry 4 Far Cry Primal Assassin's Creed IV - Black Flag

There is an NHL game, Nick. Should be a new one out this year if there isn't already. I've really gotten into Hockey over the last year, but the game is very unforgiving to new players!
I've not been playing as much as usual at the moment, mainly just FIFA and now FM, but I'm also prone to playing:
Crusader Kings 2, Destiny 2, Civ 6, Cities Skylines and Two Point Hospital on the pc, with Mario, Zelda and Paladins on the Switch

Speaking of the Switch, what's it like? My lad asked for one for Christmas, but he's only 7 and I didn't know whether there are enough games suitable for his age.

More than enough for his age, I'd imagine. There's a lot of games that are family friendly on it; Mario Odyssey/Kart/Party/Rabbids, Kirby, Lego DC and a whole bunch more. Pokemon coming out next month, Smash Bro's at the end of the year, I could go on.
It's also, for me, hands down the best console/handheld out there.

Regarding NBA, as I said this year's version hasn't really caught my attention yet, but I only base my opinion on the MyTeam mode. Regarding gameplay it's quite solid and the Career mode seems interesting, albeit a little time-consuming. Franchise mode hasn't been touched in a couple of years and still has a few gripes (statistical simulation is kinda broken for some categories). It's worth a punt on a sale. And it's far, far, far superior to NBA Live. Let's not even walk down that path. I don't play NHL games, since I don't watch NHL (except maybe the Stanley Cup).

Anyone else had Red Dead Redemption 2 take over their life this weekend? Sadly not, I've been excited for this to come out for a while but am trying to save some money at the moment. We're one year into home ownership and continue to do work on the house, so things are tight. Will probably add it to the Christmas list. Have you got it, Nick? If so, any good?

Yeah, I made sure I pre-ordered it, which is unusual for me. I usually refuse to spend £50 on a game and will wait until they're reduced. It's bloody brilliant so far and I'm only about 19% complete at the moment. There's just so much to do it's ridiculous. You just end up getting lost, exploring, looting and hunting. The main character is hugely likeable and there's a real mix of characters in your gang as well. It also looks absolutely stunning.

I've been talking to Dale on twitter on this, but heck let's use the forum hahaha. Anyone getting the new Pokémon tomorrow? Me and Dale are getting Shield, so if anyone's considering it and hasn't decided, go and get Sword so we'll trade!

I really need to get myself a Switch, but Mrs Nick would probably kick me out if I bought one at the moment, given I'm not at work due to Covid. I absolutely loved Pokémon Shield. Played the hell out of it, it was the first pokémon where I completed the pokedex. I bought the expansion pass as well and haven't played much of the first one yet, as I need to level up the legendary pokémon to 70 and the grind puts me off a bit (despite it's super easy at this stage of the game). I love my switch, in fact to my confinement (I don't know if you know, but as I am diabetic I'm spending this pandemic at my family's ranch in the south of Chile) I brought my Switch and my gaming PC, leaving my PS4 back in Santiago. Besides Pokémon I play Zelda BotW (shame on me as I haven't yet finished it), Super Mario Odyssey (same), Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 (working through the DLC's), Stardew Valley, Cuphead and New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe. I'm thinking of getting Animal Crossing (not that into it though) and the new Paper Mario.

Bought it a couple months ago on a big discounted price (80% off I think), and whilist I found it super engaging at first I haven't touched it in over a month. I don't know what puts me off though, I barely completed the tutorial and got to the space station (I spent hours searching for the last fucking creature I needed to scan on my initial planet before leaving though).

I think it's one of those games where the first stages are an uphill struggle and then something clicks. I've dipped in and out but recently got back into it in a big way and I'm now at the point where things are easy. I've got money and resources to burn, I've upgraded my equipment so all the tasks aren't the ballache they were at the beginning and so it's really enjoyable.

No Mans Sky is fucking fantastic. That is all. The daft thing is that I only bought it because I'm a fan of 65daysofstatic (who did the soundtrack), so I had to shell out for a PS4 too in order to play it. I have not regretted this decision.

Yeah, NMS can be a bit of a slog, and sometimes it feels like too much effort to play at times...but see when you just find that groove, that little sweetspot? It's just perfect. It's also my go to "podcast game". I could sit on a 6 hour podcast and just lose myself in my NMS universe.

I picked up The Last of Us 2 on release day, put about 7 hours into it and haven't touched it since. Anyone else played it?
I loved the first one and really enjoyed what I put into this one, but it feels like when you pick up a copy of the new FM and it feels exactly like the last one. Just feel like I've done it all before.

I know we're on a global crisis and thus spending on whims is limited for most of the people in the world, but I went on a limb this week and pre-ordered Square Enix upcoming "Marvel's Avengers" game in its Deluxe Edition (which basically guarantees a 3-day early release and a few cosmetic upgrades). Can't lie, I'm super excited about this game, I'm a MASSIVE Marvel fan, I have a subscription for Marvel's comic reading service (Marvel Unlimited), and I've watched the MCU films at least 3-4 times each (and my faves even more, maybe closer to 10), so the idea of a new Marvel game, based on The Avengers was fantastic news for me when this was announced back in early 2017. I even defended the game's first footage which was so heavily criticised, and with each new piece of news I get more and more excited. Last month, after the War Table stream, where they showed more gameplay footage, I decided to jump in so I could be a part of the Beta which will take place mid August. I'll post my probably super biased opinion on here by then haha. Will anyone else buy this game? The co-op funcionality seems nice and allows for huge replayability and character building, besides there's rumours of it being cross-play.

I completed the main storyline of No Man's Sky on Monday evening after about 95 hours of gameplay, but anyone with half a brain could do it much quicker if they wanted. What I have realised though is that the real joy of NMS is playing without a specific objective in mind. Scan this, mine that, admire the view. Bored? Hop over to a new planet, rinse and repeat.
I've also started playing Occupy White Walls, which is a 'game' in the loosest sense of the word for people who like art. Call it Gallery Manager if you like.

Lads, I've got a spare key for the PC Beta of Marvel's Avengers. If anyone wants it, send me a PM and I'll give it to you. The game's available to play until Sunday at 9 PM local times and it weighs around 25 GB to download via Steam, I think you need a Square Enix account and that's it. Unlimited playtime until Sunday, on the modes available on the Beta. I've been playing a bit so far and it's a pretty good game, and amazing if you're a Marvel nerd like me. Cheers!

Has anyone started playing CK3 yet? Thought about pre-ordering mate but in the end didn't do it as I'm grinding Marvel's Avengers and Madden 21 right now and CK is too time consuming to have 3 games like that in terms of game time required. I'll buy it before the year ends though, as I really love the series.
