Universidad de Chile 2026 Season ReviewOverviewSo, another update from the club side as another season ends. I'mma try to make these shorter and more concise as a couple of folks have said they're plowing through the thread and I intend on making them easier to read. As I said on the World Cup update, I'm thinking of changing the approach to the club side a bit. I have been hoarding youth players from all around the country, giving the best chance to early develop to those with enough potential and then selling them off to bigger sides when the chance arises and I have a good replacement lined up for them. This has led to the NT being populated across all divisions with players who have had a run at La U, which is great and have enabled us to become the most dominant chilean side in the league while also being competitive in the Libertadores later rounds, despite normally getting to Quarter-Finals. The problem is that we're holding the players back a bit, selling them too late for them to keep growing and reach their full potential, so I'm gonna try to sell them earlier to see if they can develop into better players in the long term. This will clash with the club interests a bit, we'll see.
Transfers We sold a few good players from the first team during this season, in the summer window left Rodrígo Hernández to Estudiantes de la Plata for €3.8M, Jason González to Monterrey for €18M, Juan Carlos Añasco to América for €7.5M and Mario Ramos to RB Bragantino for €12.5M. All deals include 50% of any future fee. In the winter, Martín Rivera went to América for €4M and Johann Astudillo went to Flamengo for €16.25M. Several players came in as well, Camilo Gomara from Everton for €1.3M, Gonzalo Céspedes from O'Higgins for €1.8M, Luis Pedro Arias from Huachipato for €1.6M, while in the winter window arrived Edgardo Ávila from La Calera for €1.1M, Paulo Retamal from Curicó for €600k and Eduardo Escobar from River Plate on a free. Most of these young players we brought won't be more than squad players, except from Céspedes, but they will allow us to move more talented members of the squad and still be competitive in the league.
Primera DivisiónSeventh one in a row. This year we had a bit of a bumpier road to the title though, specially as we had a bad second half, with a few games really really bad. On the filp note, we did smash rivals Colo Colo 8-0 in October and Universidad Católica 5-1 in April. Anyhow, a bad stretch of form at times and a few inexplainable games meant we only won the title by 6 points.Still, never left the top spot, all year long.Copa ChileUnbeaten cup year, winning the Supercup against La Serena and then cruising the Copa Chile, for a Domestic Treble season.
Copa LibertadoresWe landed an easy group, against Gremio, Bolívar and Caracas. We didn't play well in the group phase though, but secured a second place with only a couple of wins, including a good one over Gremio in Santiago, but it was worrying that we couldn't beat Caracas in both our games. The second round pitted us against Palmeiras and we were lucky to advance, winning on away goals on a last minute goal. Then in Quarter-Finals we faced Gremio again, I was confident as we drew on aggregate in the group, we managed to get a 2-1 win in Santiago, but in Porto Alegre we were dominated and lost 0-3 to exit the Cup in Quarter-Finals.
Squad and PerformancesAry Casanova ended up our top player, with 15 goals and 21 assists in 43 games and 7.50 rating, our other winger Ricardo Sánchez was second, netting 12 goals and 16 assists with a 7.42 rating. Jeisson Correa won over the striker starting job after a terrific start by Camilo Gomara who scored 10 goals in the first 6 league games, but Jeisson is far a better player and showed it in the season. Correa scored 24 goals and had 2 assists in 33 games (26 starts) with a 7.40 rating, while Gomara scored 24 goals and 3 assists in 42 games (25 starts) with a 7.24 rating.
Forecast and Future- We have already sold a couple of main starters from this season, Casanova will join Sao Paulo and Claudio Carvajal will join Internacional de Porto Alegre in January. - After taxes and shareholder payouts we've got around €110M in the bank. - Facilities wise we're on the top of the line, with both the Training and Youth Facilities being at State of the Art level, with Exceptional Youth Coaching and Recruitment Network. So nothing to spend the money on, really as a new stadium is off the books for The Board.
We'll see what the future holds for La U as I'll try to sell players earlier.

It's interesting to see your change in philosophy Chaodck, and it's one I quite like. Would it be right to assume that maybe the emphasis on this save, going forward, will be the national team, with La U taking a bit more of a backseat? It's a contrast to how you normally see these saves done, but I think it could be really interesting if that's what you're trying to do.
I've often been guilty in saves of hoarding as much young talent as possible and not always allowing them to develop for fear of upsetting the balance or the short term success of the club, but if the focus is more on the long term success of both club and country, it's a sacrifice you'd have to make sometimes.

chaodck! I've finally made the time to read through your thread, and I'm writing this as I go! It's always good to see you with a LaU C&C save! 2020: A great start to the domestic side of things. Do you find it hard managing your own team, given you have closer connections to the players? I'd forgotten all about Angelo Henriquez, not that he lasted long under your guidance! I seem to remember him being fairly important for you in previous games. I take it his ability has taken a bit of a hit recently? Weird Copa America, but third isn't too bad and probably about right at this stage. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone draw five group phase matches! Great work in the Olympics too, grabbing the silver medal, although France gave you a bit of a pasting in the final, which I guess is to be expected. A much better start to the World Cup qualifiers. Qualification will surely be in the bag. 2021: Bloody hell, Bastian Campos Toro is a scary looking chap isn't he?! Hopefully he ages well, otherwise he's destined to be single forever! Much tighter in the league this year, which is a good thing at this stage. You don't want to walk the league every season from the off, you'll have plenty of time for that later on in the save! Shame to lose to Colo Colo in the cup. Santos and Sao Paulo in your Libertadores group though, WOW. Talk about bad luck. You've done fantastically to get out of the group though, so mad respect for that. Quarter finals was great, no shame in losing to Fluminense. The shareholder payments seem to be killing you at the moment - hopefully selling a few prospects to benefit the national team in the future will benefit you in the short term. A much quieter year with the national team, but easy qualification. It really is a strong qualifying zone. I am still hoping to take the Bolivia job in my Blooming save, which is going to be a massive challenge. 2022: Great to see you've brought Alexis back to Chile. His legs may have gone, but I always like bringing those big European-based players back to South America at the end of their careers. On paper it looks like a fairly comfortable league win, but your ability to put 6/7 wins together at the end of the season saved you a bit! Good to see you're not having it all your own way, but have the ability and quality to win titles. No cup run yet though. Do you always rotate the squad and use the younger kids? A loss to Flamengo was expected, but you perhaps got a little lucky in getting through the group. It should have been more straight forward than that!! It's a shame the Alexis transfer didn't really come off. Such a shame that Aranguiz and Vidal are coming to the ends of their careers. I'm looking forward to the regen versions coming along in the coming years! Villegas looks like a top prospect. I'm interested to see how long you can keep him for or whether you decide that moving him on is best for his career and the national team. Unlucky against Ukraine in the quarter finals of the World Cup, but I think that's probably about the national team's level right now. 2023: Great to see Colo Colo slipping down the table, and congrats on your fourth title in a row. It was an unbelievable season. Your run in the Libertadores was brilliant. Hopefully that's the tide turning now and you can make the Semi finals regularly. You're relying heavily on the goals on Brian Villegas though, 44 in 48 starts is some return. I'm amazed no-one has snapped him up yet. I'd forgotten that the qualifiers for the World Cup start three years before the tournament in CONMEBOL - mental. A great, unbeaten start, and two positive results against Brazil and Argentina. It feels like you're finding your rhythm with the national team now. 2024: An interesting move selling Luis Rojas to China. It's a lot of money, but I can't help but think it's a bit of a sideways move for him. Hopefully a European club comes along and takes him in the next year or two. Brian Villegas is off too. This is quite the clearout you're having. I think 18 million euros is a good deal financially considering your stature. I'm surprised he went to Mexico rather than Brazil if he wasn't going to Europe, but I guess the Mexicans have a fair amount of money too. Hector Pane looks good. It'll be interesting to see how he develops, especially physically. The departure of Villegas doesn't seem to have damaged your prospects too much and that was your best league season so far. No real standout goalscorer now, but five players getting double figures means you don't need one. Great to see. Unlucky in the Libertadores, but it sounds like the Boca game came at the wrong time. Unfortunate end to the Olympics, but you more than made up for it with that run to the Copa America final. I assume there's no room for Aranguiz and Vidal in the squad now. Have they both retired? I'll predict now that it won't be the first time you face Brazil in the final! Bolivia still doing dreadful in the qualifiers I see! 2025: Wow, that was some title win. Absolutely walked it. That is a ridiculously young squad as well with only one outfield player over the age of 23. You love to see it. It feels like you've found your level in the Libertadores too, quarter finals feels about right at the moment. Qualification for the World Cup looks pretty comfortable too, although it's surprising to see Argentina struggle (in relative terms). Looking forward to seeing what the national team looks like in a year's time at the WC. Not sure what Bolivia were doing either. Who's managing them now? 2026: A few surprises in your WC squad. I like the look of Jose Gonzalez, especially compared to Gamboa, but there definitely isn't much between them. Also, looking at some of your LaU players, it's clear you have a very talented team. A fantastic World Cup too. It's always hard after playing extra-time because you only get about three days to recover, but it sounds like you held your own. To get the better of Brazil must've been pretty sweet too. For what it's worth mate, I like the length, detail and style of writing you put into the updates. It's only taken me so long to read through because I was absent for ages and you'd progressed through five + seasons. Imagine starting a league season scoring six, five and then six again!! Hitting eight against Colo Colo must've been pretty sweet, but it looks like they pushed you pretty hard. Another domestic treble though - congrats. How many is that now? It looks like I'm now caught up. Was good reading through it all mate, you've done well so far. I'm still waiting for that Libertadores win though!

Well, yeah I guess the first priority will be the national team, but I'd love to win the Libertadores with La U, really. I've got loads of money, so maybe trying to bring back a few players I've sold and are already fully developed to try and win the CL might be a good shout.

Great work in the Olympics too, grabbing the silver medal, although France gave you a bit of a pasting in the final, which I guess is to be expected. A much better start to the World Cup qualifiers. Qualification will surely be in the bag. Yeah, it was a great start to the save mate. I find managing La U is quite comforting, in fact when La U is good on the pitch (or at least decent as we've been lately, compared to the disastrous 2019) makes me want to play FM. Henríquez definetely regressed, he's still good in FM, specially for the Chilean league and thus for lower rated leagues, but he's a bust IRL, he left way to early to ManU and never played there, never took advantage of his loan spells and ended up not developing. Weirdest Copa América ever, the game against Argentina was one of those FM inexplainable games, we'd never struggle against them and then 0-5. The Olympics were really a great point as I used a lot of players who later were either a great part of La U or promoted to the Senior Squad in the NT.2021: Bloody hell, Bastian Campos Toro is a scary looking chap isn't he?! Hopefully he ages well, otherwise he's destined to be single forever! Much tighter in the league this year, which is a good thing at this stage. You don't want to walk the league every season from the off, you'll have plenty of time for that later on in the save! Shame to lose to Colo Colo in the cup. I am still hoping to take the Bolivia job in my Blooming save, which is going to be a massive challenge. Hahahahaha, he's surely a horrible looking chap, still is though, full bald head and pornstache. I've had my share of bad luck in the Libertadores' groups, playing 2 brazilians three times I think including this 2026. Yeah, every few years there are strangely quiet years, where even scheduling friendlies is hard.2022: Great to see you've brought Alexis back to Chile. His legs may have gone, but I always like bringing those big European-based players back to South America at the end of their careers. On paper it looks like a fairly comfortable league win, but your ability to put 6/7 wins together at the end of the season saved you a bit! Unlucky against Ukraine in the quarter finals of the World Cup, but I think that's probably about the national team's level right now. Yeah, I though Alexis might bring something to La U and he did help at some point despite being a short stint. He had already decided to retire and I couldn't convince him otherwise. I think I'll win the league almost all years now really, I don't see Colo Colo or UC putting up a great year, which they'll need to challenge us. The Cup normally gets the kids, specially as it's played on international dates, which means at least 3-5 players away with the NT. I think we sold Villegas too late, and he didn't develop as much. He has struggled in the NT, despite being our most able scorer, even from the bench. Losing against Ukraine was tough, as I envisioned myself in the semifinals. I think in that moment, I lost it haha.2023: Great to see Colo Colo slipping down the table, and congrats on your fourth title in a row. Villegas really exploded, as I told Dale on his thread, it was just a thing of momentum and he just never stopped. The semifinals against Flamengo were a tough affair really winning in Santiago was good, but in Rio we were shit.2024: An interesting move selling Luis Rojas to China. It's a lot of money, but I can't help but think it's a bit of a sideways move for him. Hopefully a European club comes along and takes him in the next year or two. Brian Villegas is off too. I'll predict now that it won't be the first time you face Brazil in the final! Bolivia still doing dreadful in the qualifiers I see! The Luis Rojas sale in the end was forced by me, as I wanted to push Astudillo to the starting spot and Pane to the bench. China came in with good money and he's stayed there since really, as his salary is too high. Villegas went to Monterrey a good Mexican side really, comparable to Brazil in terms of stature, but I think with more money. Pane looks amazing, and has taken over the starting job since I sold Astudillo in 2025. He's touted to be more talented than Astudillo, Rojas and Araos, so I hope he fullfills it. The Olympics were a great time again, but Argentina walked us out on the semis, and the Netherlands were too much for us. Fourth place is good. The Copa America run was amazing, despite using 3 good players in the Olympics as the squads cannot overlap (shit bug by SI). You will really need luck with Bolivia, but with the new formats you'll make it, surely.2025: Wow, that was some title win. It was an amazing season with La U, specially as it was after I sold a few of our best players. Short NT season again, but seeing Argentina there was good as well haha.2026: A few surprises in your WC squad. I like the look of Jose Gonzalez, especially compared to Gamboa, but there definitely isn't much between them. Also, looking at some of your LaU players, it's clear you have a very talented team. It looks like I'm now caught up. Was good reading through it all mate, you've done well so far. I'm still waiting for that Libertadores win though! I think González is better than Gamboa in terms of ability, yes. But for the 4th CB spot I went with Gamboa due to him having a bit of potential, which in the end wasn't better than González CA, but it was worth a shot. Yes, the La U squad is good and with potential to be most of the national team for the years to come. Gomara was on fire to start the season, with González injured, but then cooled down and was relegated to the bench, still he scored a hattrick on the 8-0 Colo Colo win from the bench. Three total trebles so far, 2023, 2024 and 2026. Wowza Nick!!!! I'm humbled at this response to my thread mate, I've answer detailedly on the quote in blue.

Just found my new gem, again from O'Higgins. Found Christofer Torres on my manual scouting of the youth update and he didn't really look like a big deal. Strikers come in a bunch and at 15 he looked pretty average, despite his great potential. Last season he was 2nd goalscorer in Primera División at 17, and I tried to bring him in the summer and loan him back to O'Higgins for a year, but couldn't do it before the deadline. In the end paid €6.5M in the winter window for a 17-turning-18 kid, but as we have tons of cash, I don't mind and he'll surely be sold for a profit down the road. He debuted in the Cup with a hattrick, just amazing.

Universidad de Chile 2027 Season ReviewOverviewAnother year rolls by and it was a fairly busy one for both fronts, here's the La U report and I'll see to the Chile one later on, hopefully finishing both today so I can get my shit together in the Deportivo Succession save. It was a good year, one where the policy of selling potentially great players at an earlier age was followed, but also one where we splashed some cash in the market, bringing in a couple of talented players who'll help both La U and Chile.
Transfers The year started off with us selling maybe our top two U-20 players, and boy did it work as both players on the point of being sold to bigger Brazilian sides, converted to "wonderkids". Ary Casanova went on to Sao Paulo for €10.25M and Claudio Carvajal to Internacional for €11M. Both are low fees, and the former me wouldn't have sold them, but in the best interests of the National Team, they were shipped. Agustín Mábil, an Argentinean newgen from our youth team that never naturalized left to Cafetaleros for €3.5M, I really could have used Mabil but opted to use chilean players instead. Finally, at the end of January, Leganés came knocking for Gonzalo Collao, our starting keeper and the only real player still left in my team. He went to Spain, for €2.6M. Then, in the winter window we further emplaced the policy by selling René Aguilera to Newcastle for €14M and Ricardo Sánchez to Corinthians for €12.5M. Also, Carlos Roberto left to Barcelona (ECU) for €2.8M. To replace Casanova, we brought in Kevin Marcoleta from Chapecoense for €1M, while other incoming transfers in the summer window were mostly younger players who'll either be backups in the senior squad or in the U-19's. But, in the winter window I decided to splash the cash. First came in Christofer Torres, from O'Higgins for €6.25M a big price but for an amazing prospect. Then, after selling Ricardo Sánchez I decided to go for big and bring in former Colo Colo youngster Jaime Alarcón who was at Santos, but after a season and a half loan at Angers where he played little football returned to the same status. He cost us €13.5M a high high price, and I doubt we'll recoup it after, but he's super talented, was wasting himself at Santos (played 19 games in 18 months at Santos and Angers) and he can be adapted to play in the right wing as an inside forward. Ignore the free transfers at the bottom as I fucked up and completely missed the youth intake and just noticed about it when I saw that the trials had finished, attaboy great work.
Primera DivisiónEight out of eight, another league title. Universidad Católica chased us closely during the season, before falling off in the last month or so, while Colo Colo struggled all year, and with a strong finish managed to climb to 3rd (they were outside continental spots for a long time). Again managed to trash our bitter rivals in the second semester, this time a 6-2 rout with a couple of goals from Jaime Alarcón, their former prospect. Our only loss came in at the middle of the Pan American Games, with 8-9 players on the NT.Copa ChileAnother treble season, second straight winning the Super Cup over Colo Colo at the start of the season, then cruising the Chile Cup. Jeisson Correa carried us to the title, scoring 11 goals in 6 the games he played (he didn't play in the first 2 rounds).
Copa LibertadoresDespite all the positives, the Libertadores was a humbling experience. For the first time the Board wanted Quarter-Finals as a minimum, and I was totally on board with that. Then the draw came in and threw everything outta the window. Palmeiras, Internacional and Peñarol. A "fuck off" type of group. We barely qualified, with the win over Inter at Santiago being the pivotal game, but Palmeiras massacred us at Allianz Parque, mercilessly with a 6-1 rout. Being drawn as a 2nd placed team guaranteed we faced a strong team in the 2nd Round, and it ended up being Boca, and again it was after the Pan American Games squad was locked, which meant 7 starters less. In Santiago we played well and could've won the game, but lost 2-3 on a last minute goal, while in Buenos Aires we were dominated and lucky to save a 1-1 draw, which meant we lost on aggregate 3-4. The Board relented on their expectations for next year, asking Second Round again.
Squad and PerformancesJeisson González was by far our best player, and maybe put up the best single season in all this save regarding goalscoring. In 37 games, he scored 39 goals, adding also 3 assists with a 7.70 rating. Our second best player was Jacob Zúñiga, who replaced René Aguilera in the middle after he left for Newcastle, playing 24 games, scoring 2 goals and 5 assists, with a 7.41 rating. Other interesting performances include César Ordóñez (37 games, 6 goals, 11 assists, 7.29 rating), Jaime Alarcón (16 games, 6 goals, 2 assists, 7.22 rating) and José González (38 games, 2 goals, 1 assist, 7.18 rating). Bryan Hontavilla ended up winning the goalkeeper battle, and had 18 clean sheets in 32 games, with just 22 goals conceded and a 6.92 rating, I'm quite happy with his performance, specially as he still has a lot of room to keep improving. The only downnote of the season was Héctor Pane, who struggled all year long, playing 36 games, only scoring 2 goals with 3 assists and a 6.93 rating, we need much more from him
Screenies on request lads.Forecast and Future- We renewed the contracts of César Ordóñez and Jeisson González this season. They both fall into a category of players who won't improve much more, but can he legends at La U and thus I'm not tempted on selling them. Unless an european side comes asking for them. - Big money-wise year again, with a lot of transfer income. We sit at €140M in the bank currently. - No news in the facilities side of things, as all are maxed out. Still pushing for the stadium though, to no avail.
Another dominant local season, but struggles on the continental side.

Chile NT 2027 Season ReviewOverviewA short season, with a few friendlies, the start of the 2030 WCQ's and the U-22 Pan American Games. CONMEBOL 2030 World Cup QualifiersWe played 5 friendlies in preparation for the World Cup Quals, beating Iran, Cameroon and Tahiti, while drawing against the Netherlands and inexplainably losing against Ghana. The good thing of this tour was that I had the oportunity to play a lot of either current La U players or players who left the club recently, some of them played just in the friendlies being part of the experimental side of the squad like Jeisson Correa, Christofer Torres, Gonzalo Céspedes, Johann Astudillo and Cristián Silva, while several also became a part of the competitive side of the squad, including Ary Casanova, Claudio Carvajal, René Aguilera, Héctor Pane, Ricardo Sánchez and Bryan Hontavilla. We debuted in the qualifiers in amazing fashion, destroying Ecuador, 6-0 at home, with a hattrick from Ary Casanova. Then we went to Buenos Aires and lost 0-3 against Argentina. It's never shameful to lose against them, but the game was far more competitive than what the result indicates so I'm a bit mad. On the second date, we absolutely hit our level, demolishing Colombia 4-1 and Uruguay 6-1 at home. With 9 points from the first 4 games, I can safely say that we're on the road to an easy qualification for Spain 2030.Yes, Uruguay is still struggling massively.2027 Pan American Games Again, we hosted the Pan American Games. I don't know if we'll become the eternal hosts, but I won't complain as they give me a great platform to get some game time with the U-22's just a few months before the Olympic Games Qualifiers are played with a U-23 side, so yeah I'm playing mostly the same players in both tournaments, with a few key additions. We had a fairly easy group and managed to ace it, beating Uruguay, 4-2, the USA 2-0 and Canada 3-0 to qualify as 1st placed. This meant we had to face Argentina in the Semifinals, and we totally smashed them, winning 6-0 in an amazing game. In the Final, Brazil awaited us. I was confident of getting a result as we'd played in great level on the tournament, and we managed to score early, via a José Martini header at '23. But then, Alejandro Harding had himself sent off at '38 and we kinda folded for the rest of the half, allowing Brazil to score at '43 and '45+3. We improved on the second half, and when Jeisson Correa scored the equaliser at '85 I knew I had to send the team all the way forward, finding my reward at '87 when Ricardo Sánchez scored the GAME WINNER! Pan American Gold Medal for the U-22's our first trophy with the National Team, despite it not being with the senior squad. Forecast and Future- It was an amazing year for the National Team. Winning Gold with the U-22's and a terrific start to the Qualifiers. - Regarding player performances, the best piece of news is that Nicolás Durán has finally found his scoring touch again. He had a on/off season for Lyon at '26/'27, playing 41 games (34 starts), scoring 9 goals with a 6.99 rating, before being shipped off on loan to Aston Villa for '27/'28, where despite being a backup, has managed to score 5 goals in 13 games and has been a starter in the Cups, scoring 2 in 3 games. For the National Team though, he's been amazing, scoring 7 goals in the first 4 games of the Qualifiers (before, he had 9 goals in 35 caps) with a 8.68 rating. Here's hoping he gets more playing time with Villa. - Ary Casanova has had also an amazing season, being Sao Paulo's best player in 2027 with 26 games (24 starts), 4 goals, 11 assists and a 7.54 rating, also scoring 4 goals in 4 caps for Chile with a 7.97 rating. - Finally I also want to hail the performances by Héctor Pane, who had a bad year at La U, but in the National Team secured the #10 spot, with 2 assists in 4 caps and a 7.15 rating. Other good players for the NT this season were: Nicolás Díaz (3 caps, 1 goal, 7.93 rating), Ricardo Sánchez (4 caps, 1 goal, 3 assists, 7.78 rating), Matías Bórquez (4 caps, 1 assist, 7.60 rating), Erick Pulgar (4 caps, 2 goals, 2 assists, 7.38 rating), César Ordóñez (3 caps, 7.30 rating), René Aguilera (3 caps, 7.27 rating) and Bryan Hontavilla (2 caps, 2 conceded, 7.15 rating).

Universidad de Chile 2028 Season ReviewOverviewNinth season of this save and the challenge is to keep up the domestic domination with the club side, while also trying to improve upon the continental side of things where we've regressed a bit in the past few seasons.
Transfers Keeping up with the new team policy of selling players with potential to bigger sides and try to make them reach that potential we sold Héctor Pane to Boca Juniors for €10M in the summer window and in the winter, we sold César Ordóñez to Porto, for €26M and Jean Ortiz to Fortaleza for €13M. Pane was the only one with real potential left to fullfill and he's dubbed to be a very important player for the NT if he keeps developing. Ordóñez and Ortiz are players who already were at their top potential, but they had outgrown the club and had good young players behind them ready to step into the starting role, so they were sold. 3 Players came into the first team, Fabián Gutiérrez made his return to La U after being poached by Leeds back in 2023 before he could play a game for us. He never really solidified as a starter in Leeds and I took advantage of our great economic position to bring him in as a key player, paying €13.5M. Sergio Gómez, another player who was poached before playing for us (he was signed by Pachuca in 2025, later sold to Medellín and Emelec) was brought in to replace Ordóñez, he came in from Emelec for €1.5M. Finally a youth prospect dual-national from River's cantera was brought in to develop at La U, Juan Carlos Mardones who cost us €2.2M.
Primera DivisiónFor the first time in a lot of years, it was a close league, which is a great change-of-pace from the past few years (the last real tight league was in 2021). Colo Colo really brought their A game this season and made us suffer to capture our 9th straight league title. We had a bit of a bumpy road, losing early against Magallanes and drawing 4 more games in the first semester, which allowed our rivals to stay right behind us. We kicked off the second semester with another early defeat, this time against Iquique that made us lose the lead, which we only managed to recover after beating Colo Colo in September. We only drew one more game and fortunately Colo Colo also drew that same day, letting us keep our two point advantage on the table. In the last day of the season, we managed to get a big win over Universidad Católica, 3-1 which sealed the title for us, making Colo Colo's loss against Curicó unimportant.Copa ChileWe won again the Super Cup, beating Universidad Católica 1-0 on the season opener, then cruised the Cup, beating Valdivia, Rangers, Coquimbo and Universidad Católica, before falling to Colo Colo in the Final. The Final was played amidst a World Cup Qualifiers double date, and we had around 6 players with the NT for the second leg. I could've requested a postponement but decided against it. We won the first leg 2-0, and the AM lead team with 6 starters less, lost 0-5 in the return leg and we lost the Cup Final.
Copa LibertadoresWe had a great Copa Libertadores. Last season was a reminder of how tough the tournament is and I had little hopes for this year as the Second Round would clash with the Olympics, meaning we'd have players with the national team and also that the games would have to be managed by the assistant manager. But let me backtrack a bit, haha. We drew a group against Flamengo, Libertad and Aucas, tough but affordable. We ended up qualifying 2nd on goal difference as we split the series with Flamengo. I was really looking to qualify 1st to try and get an easier matchup in the second round, due to the Olympics clash. But no and no, and we drew Gremio in the 2nd Round. The AM lead team did a terrific job though and we managed to advance to the Quarter-Finals, beating Gremio 3-1 at home and drawing 3-3 in Porto Alegre. Our reward? Sao Paulo. Again the first leg was played in Santiago and we played our best game of the season, almost a perfect game, beating them 5-0. The return leg was a mere paperwork affair and we again managed to get a 3-3 draw to advance to the Semifinals for the first time since 2023. Same as in our only other Semifinals appearace of this save, we'd face Flamengo. We won the first leg in Santiago, but conceded a late goal to make the result 2-1, a good result for the away team. In Brazil, we were out of our depth and ended up losing 0-2 exiting from the Copa Libertadores in the dreadful Semifinals.
Squad and PerformancesPlaymaker Jacob Zúñiga was our best player this season, dominating midfield as if it was his backyard. In 50 games, he scored 8 goals and had 12 assists with a 7.47 rating. Closely second, Jeisson Correa was again our top threat above, despite taking him longer to get started and thus scoring less goals than last season, he played 38 games, scoring 28 goals and had 8 assists, with a 7.43 rating. Big price signings Jaime Alarcón and Fabián Gutiérrez also showed up this season, the former with 14 goals and 6 assists in 37 games, with a 7.35 rating and the latter with 7 goals and 13 assists in 38 games with a 7.30 rating. Finally, Gonzalo Céspedes is also worth mentioning as the towering fullback had a great season with 12 goals and 10 assists in 43 games, with a 7.25 rating.
Screenies on request lads.Forecast and Future- I'm thinking come next season I'm gonna have to either sell Correa or try to find a move for Torres, who's labeled as a wonderkid (our first at La U), and I feel his growth will stunt without more football and maybe at a higher level. Also Jaime Alarcón seems to have found his level and if a good offer comes along I'd consider selling him, same with Gutiérrez, despite only being a year here. At goal, we have a nice competition, with 3-4 players who could be starters. I'll see how I resolve it. - Another huge year money-wise. We have €170M in the bank. - The Youth Facilities were downgraded due to technological advancements, so I asked for them to be upgraded right away. The Board negated at first, but I convinced them to do it. They'll be ready in June 2029. Again, the stadium is a no-no. I think we're gonna have to fill up the current one we rent in order for the board to consider building our own.
A good season overall, but I'm a bit worried about the future of the save as the youth intake was shit all over the country. Not much good prospects overall in the last few years. I'll see what the future brings.

Chile NT 2028 Season ReviewOverviewLong-ass season, with the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the Copa América and the continuation of the Spain 2030 World Cup Qualis.2028 Los Angeles Olympics and QualifyingWe had to go to Brazil and play in the Olympics Quailfiers, and we managed to repeat our title from 2024, with an unbeaten run, including a Final Stage where we beat Brazil and Argentina.
At the Olympics, we drew a group alongside China, the hosts United States and Portugal. We started off beating the first two teams, 3-0 and 2-0, securing our place in the Quarter-Finals as 1st placed, before losing against Portugal 0-1 playing with backups. Just our effing luck though, as Spain qualified 2nd in their own group and meant we had to face them in the Quarter-Finals. We narrowly lost 0-1 and Jeisson Correa missed a penalty that would've extended the game to extra time. In the end Spain woke up to face us, and went on to win the Gold Medal, while we had to go back home early, not even in contention for medals. This is the third Oympic Games where we participate, we went from Silver Medal, to 4th place, to elimination in Quarter-Finals. Not a good prospection.Copa América 2028We drew a group with Mexico, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay and Venezuela, avoiding Brazil and Argentina. We struggled at times in the group, but managed to qualify in 3rd place, after drawing against Mexico, Paraguay and Uruguay, while beating Bolivia and Venezuela. In the Quarter-Finals we had to face Colombia and in a tight game we managed to come up top, beating them 3-1. In Semifinals we had to face Venezuela, who had beat Ecuador in the Quarter-Finals (again, we managed to avoid both Brazil and Argentina who were on the other side), we beat Venezuela 2-1 and advanced to our second consecutive Copa America Final, this time facing Argentina who beat Brazil in the semis. Playing at Estadio de Avellaneda, we were the clear away team. And Argentina took vengeance for the 2015 and 2016 finals by absolutely dominating us, we never really had a chance. We lost 0-3 and again, we had to console ourselves with being the runners up.CONMEBOL 2030 World Cup QualifiersBack in 2027 we kicked off the Qualifiers in amazing fashion, with 3 wins and just 1 loss against Argentina, we kept the times rolling early in the year, before the Copa América, beating Perú and Brazil as visitors, first time we beat Brazil at their own home. After the Copa América though, we had a bit of a rough patch, only getting 2 wins from the 6 games played. We lost 0-2 against Paraguay in Asunción, then beat Venezuela 2-0 in Santiago. We drew 0-0 against Ecuador in Quito, then massacred Bolivia 5-0 in Santiago, finally in the toughest double date of the year, we drew 2-2 with Argentina at home, and narrowly lost 2-3 agasinst Colombia in Medellín.
The South American Qualifiers are tough, but we're hanging in though, with a foot already in Spain. We're 2nd in the table, with 23 points from 12 games.Squad and PerformancesIt was a strange year. We had some great games, some good ones and definetely some awful ones. There's a bit of regression in some of our bigger players, and some of our newer European additions have struggled to get much playing time for their clubs. René Aguilera was loaned from Newcastle to Aston Villa and has been a backup there, Nico Díaz was bought by West Ham last season and is a rotation option, while the two better ones are César Ordóñez who has been a starter for Porto after being sold from La U and Matías Cavalleri who's also a starter at Dynamo Kyiv. The most worrying case is Nicolás Durán, who was sold from Lyon to Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia, where he's excelled albeit at a far far lower level. The South American bunch is doing ok, Ary Casanova and Claudio Carvajal are both starters at Sao Paulo, Matías Bórquez also starts for Gremio, Luis Rojas for Flamengo, Ricardo Sánchez for Corinthians and Luis Figueroa for Botafogo. Héctor Pane and Juan Barón are doing great at Boca as well. As I said at the La U update, I'm truly worried by the lack of top chilean prospects. This save is going for its 10th season and despite a few flashes of brilliance, there hasn't really been great players, which in the end shows why we don't have players in the top european teams. This is making me lose interest in the save a bit.Forecast and Future- I'll do a big squad revamp next season, cutting the deadwood from the National Pool and streamlining the squad. - 2029 will be a short year, only with the remaining Qualifier games and a few friendlies.
Here's onto the 2030 World Cup!
