Hello, I used to knock around the old version of this forum and I've just found the new version. I've read some of the great stories on here over the last few days, and wanted to get back involved. Good timing too, as I wanted to try out a Director of Football type of challenge where I leave essentially everything in the hands of the AI and see what I can do with it. Squad building and planning is one of my favourite aspects of the game, especially the numbers-side of it. Giving it up, more or less, is a weird thought, but I figured it'd be fun. Sometimes the AI squads get some cool players and I figured it'd an interesting chance to use and work with players in systems I wouldn't otherwise. I also have come to peace already with the idea of this crashing and burning early. Why Schalke?I enjoy the Bundesliga, and have done for a while. For the challenge, an upper-mid-table team with a decent starting squad seemed like an ideal place to begin. Schalke are also that weird spot of seeming to always underperform. So here we are in a kind of 1+1(+0.5) situation. I think I'll get into the current squad and my ideas for it currently, and all that at the end of pre-season (at the start of it now), when the window has closed. Until then.

Nice challenge mate, I remember you from TheDugout. I'll be following as this approach is something I haven't seen around here, best of luck.
