Hi lads, I was wondering wether anyone would like to share their experiences playing Board or Card games. I'm a big Board Game fan, despite my collection not being so big. I'm a huge fan of Fantasy Flight Games and have got the "A Game of Thrones Board Game" and "Star Wars: The Outer Rim" from them. I also enjoy playing other games like Takenoko or Sushi Go (or its variants). In what may seem a divisive opinion, I rather dislike "Settlers of Catan", it bores me a bit haha. I enjoy other thematic games as well, but don't own them like "Colt Express", "Ticket to Ride", "Pandemic" (would like to buy the Legacy edition someday), and also one about energy distribution or something like that, can't remember the name. I also recently bought on kickstarter a football board game called "Und1c1", which is still to be released but seems like a ton of fun ().
Regarding card games I enjoy "Munchkin" and also bought on kickstarter one called "Doomlings" which is super, super fun. And I've just recently delved into the world of Living Card Games, purchasing the Core Set, and a few more packs for "Marvel Champions". In fact I might end up setting up a twitch channel dedicated to Marvel Champions gameplay and tutorials.

I've wanted to play outer rim for so long but no one to play it with

I'm in the same boat as 80s. Never played any other than the usual fare of scrabble, cluedo and risk etc. I've got a few friends at work who all enjoy boardgames though, so it's something I'm hoping to rectify eventually.
I also have Tabletop Simulator, but again it's finding games to play, and people who wouldn't mind that I'm an absolute beginner

Occasionally me and the missus will play board games together. We have Scrabble, Cluedo, and Trivial Pursuit. I'm a huge fan of Chess as well, she doesn't like Chess though so I only play online matches on Chess.com.

I also have Tabletop Simulator, but again it's finding games to play, and people who wouldn't mind that I'm an absolute beginner I'm on that same boat lads. I bought the "A Game of Thrones" Board Game back in 2015, I don't think I've played it 15 times. It's a hard game to learn, and to explain. And you need at least 2 more people to play with. "Star Wars: The Outer Rim" is better, I got it in 2020 and I've played it a lot. It can be played single player, and it's pretty enjoyable despite not at its best, but in 2 player mode (or even 3 if you include "the AI" as another player) is super fun. The game is quite easy to learn, despite being overwhelming when you look at it, the mechanics are pretty simple. Then again. This same reason is what pushed me towards Marvel Champions. The LCG game shines when played single player (either one handed with one hero, or two handed with two heroes) and it's pretty good when played with another player (each with one hero). The game has a lot of content, even with the Core Set, and the rest is quite optional as you can buy your favourite heroes when you want something different to play as, and the villains and scenarios (expansions feature both heroes and villains/scenarios), when you start to run out of content from the Core Set of whatever you have from before. My first purchase arrived today (albeit to my sister's house in the States, so I'll get it on July, when I go over there haha). For now I'm playing in Tabletop Simulator, learning the rules, playing against a few villains and seeing what content I'll buy next.

We play it a lot in my friends group and have had a ton of fun with it. We also play "How Do You Meme" and a few other party and drinking games as well.
