Does anyone have any advice about using a Director of Football? I must have the options wrong or something because I find mine to be little better than useless. He frequently rejects bids I would have accepted, fails to sign players I've lined up and just blunders about costing me time and money. I'd love to delegate some of the recruitment tasks to him but I don't trust him enough to do it!

AI clubs struggle with transfers, not gonna trust an AI at a human run club, might let them seek loan options. But I personally never use a DoF

I only use them on contracts, and I tell him which ones I want him to do, mostly staff and when I don't really care about the budget.

Ever since I had my staff hand out a €110k per week contract to a garbage player in my second team I have never let anyone other than myself handle anything related to recruitment and contracts. Sometimes at the start of a new save, I forget to change these responsibilities and the DoF starts offering contracts to crappy youthful free agents, immediately reminding me to change these settings.
So in short, I don't trust them in the slightest and rather go through the annual slog of renewing contracts myself. Besides, player recruitment is one of my favourite aspects of the game so I don't want to hand this over to my staff.

I'm the same as Dirk. I don't use DOF either. Don't understand the appeal to use one. I'll rather do the signings myself. First team and youths.

I'm on the other side of the fence. I always hire one. They don't do much for me though, as I mainly use them to offer out players I don't want, something I could do, but I just can't arse myself to.
