Despite winning the Irish top flight as recently as 2017. 2020 saw the side relegated after an 18 game season saw them finishing 10th.
It seems the league expectations are fairly low considering we are a fairly big side within Ireland. 2nd to 5th are playoff spots.
The initial squad I have to work with
Bossin I know as he was a free signing I would make in fm20 and the midfielders look to be my strongest position on paper.

This will be interesting, don't see many saves in Ireland. I'll be following.
Shout out to your 3* 40 year old Goalkeeper!

Gotta hit the ground running, looks like anything other than promotion won't be acceptable. Are you comfortably the best side in the division?

The keeper has played for Cork his entire carear Season preview has us in second to Shelbourne who historically are good, but have sort of become bit yoyo like.

Transfers We had zero money to spend, not a suprise. Pietryzyk is a young polish striker Ekanem is a 32 year old Nigerian defender who can cover at DM if needed Trehy is a young defender Gray is a 22 year old striker who played few games in League Two, i expect this guy to be our goalscoring threat this season Aday is a 21 year old Spain defender who played in lower divisions of Spain Wilbraham might be a recognisable name to some, a veteran target man to provide a different tactical approach 131 goals in over 600 games at varying levels of the English game Bryne is a young defender Lambe is a 30 year old international for Bermuda plays on the wings, and has previously been in the MLS and also championship but more recently played in league two standings after everyone playing each other once We are right where the preview placed us, annoyingly we lost 5-1 to Shelbourne, the other lose came via Galway

Summer transfers mid way through the season, joys of a european league that plays over the summer in Ejeheri is a young keeper, who is better than the youngsters at the side already Sraha is a young defender Butler-Oyede is just a pacey winger Turner is another young keeper Haugland is a young Norwegian striker Savage got released by Man United and after a sale of a mid, this youngster fit the bill to replace him I did look to loan out the youngsters that came in, was suprised at the loan fees that were being offered, as can be seen in the outs O Connor had under a year left and didnt want to renew, so the random bid from Shrewsbury was reluctantly accepted.

Also set McNulty to take pens as I noticed he had a high rating for penalty taking, but he has not been playing much, decided to give him a few games, only for him to get 2 penalities converted in one game
Also we got 18 k for coming second.

Good luck in the Play-Offs. I noticed you signed a couple Arsenal players, how did they perform for you?

Popping alright, Cork are back in the Irish top flight, those playoff games were very tight and nervy. im very impressed with how Jake O'Brien and Aday did in defence, also Gray certainly bagged us goals this season. Wilby, did a marvelous job at his age

Board are expecting to avoid relegation We have an 900k balance and 15k to spend with about 20k p week left in the wage budget. We have made one in He is a 30 year old right back who can also play central And one out Our squad has not changed very much over the off season, the kids that came in the summer are still out on loan (cant recall them, whoops) Mcnalty and Wilby have announced they will retire at the end of the season
* Rory Quinlan was our best youth prospect and gets to be our third choice this season!
The season preview

After my first 3 games we were bottom with 0 points, and only 1 goal, also we suffered long injuries to Jamie Gray and Wilby. with only a week left until the window closed, we looked over to the English academies for some potential Foran comes in to add abit more quality to our defence Vitek comes in to challenge Bossin for number 1 spot Gilchrist is a pacy central defender Thompson comes in to be a backup to Savage. Goodbridge is a winger/striker - hoping he can cover the injured Grey and get some important goals Armstrong is a very good for Ireland left back Greene scored 13 goals for Shamrock last season but is 32, hopefully he can also provide goals.

Over the Summer part our in comings were Jeremi is a young left back who will go out on loan Charles 18 years old defender who will be on the bench atleast Musialowski 18 year old polish who is a winger/striker Kpakpe 18 year old defender will go straight into first team. Goodridge came back in on loan as Villa recalled him, annoyingly he did get recalled again - he will be joining on a free in January Armstrong is a strong left back who comes back in on loan Vitek is a good keeper who has also came back on loan Jones is another defender but will go into our u19 squad. We have sold Trehy for 4k to Dag&Red Coleman for 3k to Waterford Butler Oyedeji for 20k to Southend (this lad in end didnt play for us)

finishing second in the league in our first season back in the top flight is quite special, but Shamrock flew away with the league Most notable players missing here is Vitek and Goodridge who both recalled in the summer. Goodridge scored 17 in 23 apps. Vitek conceeded 14 in 14 apps. I was hoping that Greene could get some goals but I was very suprised when he started scoring consistantly! Gray also after his long injury and Griffin showing promise and Goodridge coming in January, it might be time to move Gray along. We also got to semi final of irish FA Cup where we lost to Dundalk Also we did win our first silverware we should win this most seasons, as Cibh are in second division and it seems every other side that plays in this are non league irish sides

One question I have, unlikely to find answer in my save is do Shamrock Rovers get relegated. or are they immune due to Shamrock Rovers 2 being in the first division?

If Shamrock Rovers are relegated than their 2nd team would be as well, even if they would win the First Division. I had a fun save on an older FM as Real Madrid Castilla and won the league a few times but could never get promoted due to Real Madrid being in La Liga.

Oh, that is interesting then. I would assume that the game would replace Shamrock Rovers 2nd team with another Irish team if that was the case. Definitely something worth checking out, taking charge of Shamrock Rovers play a terrible tactic that guarantees relegation and finding out.

There is no pro/rel out of the first division There isn't any formal relegation, but there are tiers below it. The most likely scenario would be that they'd be replaced by another regional team, at least in real life. Not sure how it'd work in FM

Our Transfers in Goodridge back on loan, villa couldnt of been that annoyed? Leo Gretarsson on a free a 27 year old icelandic leftback Thomas McGill on a free a 23 year old candian goalkeeper Sobowale on a free a 21 year old Irish defender Robinson on a free a 21 year old right back David Nugent on a free 37 year old striker, to be an impact sub/cover Iliev on a free, former arsenal reserves keeper from Macedonia Out Jonas has left already on a 36k move to Dundalk McGlade went to Drogheda for 1k Uniss Kargbo went to Bohemians on a free Lambe went to Crawley for 40k - his pace was begining to satruggle on the wings Gray for 3k to Harrogate, his injury had killed off any form he was in, and goodridge was banging them in. This has left my squad looking like this for our third season

I did a test (I gave Shamrock a 50 point deduction for match fixing) and they went down when i simmed the 1st season. Sadly the 2nd team doesn't actually go down so both teams will play in the 2nd tier

Managed to do 3 seasons at Cork. Not sure if I will continue
Champions!
3 finals, twice champions. shame about the Dundalk result
narrow lose in europe, was expecting to struggle vs Maccabi
very happy with everyone, if I continue I probably need to look at getting a backup striker as Nugent is retiring
