With little desire for Newcastle/Arsenal or other EPL sides, or even my usual beta china one season.
Have decided to start a save with a side tha peaked my interest when looking around, FM20 think I did a beta save with Kiev.
"Following the demise of Metalist Kharkiv in 2016, two new clubs were created in Kharkiv with variations of the Metalist club name. Since July 2016, a team named "SK Metalist Kharkiv" has been playing in the Kharkiv Oblast Championship,[4] whose owner is former Metalist owner Serhiy Kurchenko.[5]
In August 2016, another club named "FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv" began to operate in the Ukrainian Amateur Football League[6] with the stated intention of competing in the (professional) Ukrainian Second League as soon as possible.[6] "FC Metalist 1925 Kharkiv" is owned by a company not linked with the original FC Metalist Kharkiv.[7][6]
In October 2017, a Ukrainian court confiscated (the original) Metalist Kharkiv from Kurchenko and placed it under state property.[8] At the time the club did not participate in any official sanctioned competitions.[8]
Also, in July 2020 former FC Metalist sports director Yevhen Krasnikov created FC Metal Kharkiv which since has participated in the Ukrainian Second League. Earlier on 5 May 2020, Oleksandr Yaroslavskyi announced that he wishes to take care of the debts of the liquidated Metalist.[9][10][11][12] The return of Yaroslavskyi to football arose some criticism connected with politics of the city of Kharkiv.[13] After winning the Second League in June 2021, it was confirmed that Metal will be renamed to Metalist and the old FC Metalist Kharkiv logo will be returned to the club, along with its brand and history."
The club created in 2016 is in the top flight, and are our fierce rivals.
The side lacks defensive players, so this needs addressing, we have 359K to spend, we ca only have 3 non ukranians in the first 11 - so most likely will be seeking ukranians

That's such a weird squad! Looks like you have to bring back the old 2-3-5 pyramid. Random English dude too, makes you wonder how they end up there.

Even though ive brought in a few defenders, decided one of the formations ill train will be a 352 With dl/dr and a lonley dc. Flat 5 in midfield and 2 strikers. Focusing on crosses. The english guy is obv a weird thing to see in ukraine 2nd tier. He was recently at sheff wed and cardiff, not that its a name that jumps out as recognisable to me.

incoming outgoing Also have changed to a standard 442. As we started to struggle to see games out, lots of chances were being created though!

Winter break arrived with 9 games left, we still looking strong for promotion The winter window saw Harris leave for Peterborough in a loan deal that will net the club 500k, we have moved in and signed another former Cardiff but most will know of his time from Peterborough, Lee Tomlin, 33 years old, his physicals are shocking, but will defo help out for the last 9 games! Harris only started 6 games and came on as a sub 5 times scoring 4 and assisting 1 mainly due to injuries, but also the foriegn players on field limit

in Ukraine cup we were knocked out by a Inhulets a team who avoided the drop from top flight, we lost on pens. that is good news, also thanks to a 7m sponsorship deal we have a 10m balance and been given 7m to spend Mailton we can afford but he not interested in joining. Also next season we can have 7 non ukranians on the pitch at one time! So like with all Ukrain clubs, i will be seeking brazilians, and i am open to british players too
Shakhter won the cup, whie Dynamo Kiev won the league

Going well so far! What are your facilities like? I remember there being quite some teams with good facilities. Harris is apparently the first English player to score in Ukrainian football.
Also, Dale must be happy to see Obolon in the race for promotion too!
Edit: wrote this at the same time you were posting the season concluder. Great job! Seems like you are well set financially as well? Do you play in that big stadium that the 'old' Metalist used to play and that was used for the Euros?

We are inside a 40k stadium, our average attendence seems to be 28,000 too, which is alot higher than Kiev and Shakhtar
possible typo? could be true, Stadium in youtube videos looks 50% possibly 40% full in real life

in also a 450k deadline purchase from zorya Lunyov is missing off the screen out was suprised by sunderland wanting to pay me to loan st paul. Kait was signed and instantly loaned to Norway, when Tomlin leaves or stops becoming semi useful Kait may come in use. Ruiz, will be used but will probably sell next summer Palmer is a big target man will be used to give my main striker a rest. Hulme is a a great addition who can cover many different locations Mastour is 4 foot 11! and semi decent and u20 so i dont need to register him. Otavio is a young brazlian who goes straight in central defence Cojocaru is a romanian keeper who will replace the aging Rybka Mastour is in this picture Squad can have 7 non ukranians on the field, so having some foriegn bench warmers is nice.
Also this is how we are doing in the league currently

The attendance one is a tricky one, but it'll be good for your bank balance! Having the two Metalist clubs, at the same stadium, in the same league, is an odd experience We all know that Obolon is the one true Ukrainian choice, though.

Most of the bank balance is from a 7m spinsorship deal which in terms of sponsorship puts us 3rd in the country.

Got shafted in Finland by a mixture of no money, no sponsorships and second season syndrome. So I'm gonna look out for something new this morning before work. Hopefully you fare better with this save!

Sponsorship levels within FM22 seem lower gobally in the stock leagues, than previous years.
Countries that still have good sponsorship income (at some clubs): (from my brief look at every league) England Scotland Russia China Germany Italy Ukraine Turkey Australia Indonesia Spain France Greece Bulgaria

Ah nice one. I think it's relative in a lot of leagues too, like I'm currently playing in Norway after Finland went shitty because of money etc and we get about £3m a year in sponsorship, as well as about £1.5m for finishing anywhere above 14th in the league. This should be enough to keep us going all the time, without the need for sales or reaching Europe (these are two things I obviously want to do, ofc).
However, in Finland I was losing massive amounts of money with no prize money, no real sponsors and no significant season ticket money. So basically it was a case of I had to qualify for some unrealistic stage of European competition to even think about being okay financially, which we couldn't do because I lost all my best players due to our financial situation.
I'm no economist and I obviously don't know about running a football club, but it has always frustrated me that FM seems to treat every team that isn't in a rich league as being about 5 days away from financial collapse at any time unless they make a European group stage.

My winter window has came to an end ins a 40 yr old Colocinni joins, because why not? sivaldo, kisil, dudu, buzas - all join for the future and will be either out on loan or at metalist 2 Alosio is a brazilian who adopted Chinese nationalty aged 34 Coser will join Otavio in the defence Zuma signed to replace an aging Harris who is leaving at end of season for a fee Lebedenko is a ukrainian aged 24 returning to the country from Spain. outs whole host of loans, Tomlin did alright when called upon but accept a loan bid when Rotherham requested Kait who was going to replace Tomlin has now go on out to Japan Ruiz from the summer has been a super sub and als great when played. League wise with 7 games remaining we still looking good for a european spot

League board wanted top half, we grab 4th place, a fair bit off the top 2 sides, but when we played them we lost on the away games at both sides. Cup for 4th time in history Kiev/shakhar didnt feature in a final! we won ths tie with great ease after a penalty shootout victory vs shakthar squad i.gyazo.com/88328be4dee545735406dc911e79e2f1.png[/imh]Peixoto clearly has an instinct for scoring. Aliosio has been poor Zuma since signing in the winter has been amazing Lunyov has been my favourite ukranian of the season and Collocini for 40 years old did well wen we played him we have been give just over 5m for the summer, and cause of the cup win, we do have a euro cup qualification

Ruiz went out on loan Few of my summer addidtions ended up not being able to settle in ukraine and requested a transfer. Tom cleverly was one of these, another english and a young Brazilian did the same. They all came in on frees but left for fees under 10k.
We did sign a young ukranian for 2.5m.
But we have really struggled at the start of season
Sparta from Czech, knocked us out of euro cup playoff. We got euro cup 2 group to play.
We lost the ukrainian super cup. Morale is very low.
