I started my current save with about 30 nations loaded, something that I did regularly on FM18. At the time, the player count was around 90,000, well below the recommended limit of 125,000.
The first couple of seasons zipped along like they usually do, but since the start of season three my save has slowed to snails pace. The database size is now 134,000, an increase of 44,000 in just two seasons. Has anyone else found this or just me? Seems a bit odd to me.
Short of removing a shit-tonne of leagues to get it back down under the limit, is there anything else I can do?

There's pretty much nothing you can do.
I don't know how realistic it all is, but I guess with every playable team having an intake of around 10 players each season, then all the background teams that get intakes, the player count is going to increase pretty quickly as you wont get the same number of players retiring.

The balance just doesn't seem to be there on this version. I'm used to my saves slowing down, especially given how many nations I load, but not until I'm between 10-15 seasons into the game. Something is wrong if it's become like that after two seasons. It's killed my Newcastle save.
