Wow Dirk, amazing job albeit a rather easy one. What are your plans for the save, bring back I Rosanero to Serie A and Europe?

Cheers! I created some kamikaze tactic with super high press and aggressive roles, which absolutely destroyed the Eredivisie with PSV, and now the Serie D as well. I'm eager to find out what it does against better opposition, but I'm thinking it'll do just as well. Only played 1 pre-season game, against Lecce who just got relegated from the Serie A, and crushed them 8-1... So yeah, the plan certainly is to get back to the Serie A as quick as possible, and find some great South-American talent to be the next Dybala or Cavani, and conquer Europe. I'm excited for this save, hope it finally sticks for more than 2 seasons!

So, after following shrewnaldo's Viseu save via Twitter, I made a move into Portugal's 2nd tier as well. SC Farense are based in the city of Faro, a very popular holiday destination on the Algarve. The club play at the Estádio de Sao Luis which has a 15,000 capacity. The club has no history of winning trophies, other than a couple of Portuguese 2nd Division titles many years past. The club's facilities are not much to shout about, however with some shrewd transfer aactivity, and quite a lot of "polishing turds", I have high hopes that we can upset the big boys in Liga NOS. The main man for the Lions has to be Scottish starlet Ryan Gauld, who after a mixed spell with Sporting CP, has moved to the Algarve. One small downside is that we will lose 50% of any future transfer fee to Sporting, so we'll have to make sure it's a good fee! Overall, a decent squad. We're expected to finish mid-table, but I fancy our chances at pushing towards the top end of the table. A couple of clever loan deals, and I think we'll be in business.

He moved to Getafe iirc (another Madrid club), then is currently on loan at Alcorcon (yet another Madrid club)

So, I loaded up Portugal(down to 3rd tier), along with Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde (all top divisions). The latter all produce many very god quality players, quite a few of those go on to represent Portugal. Other than the league add-ons and competition name fixes, everything else DB related is the default 20.4 DB. Cape Verde - Nani, Gelson Martins, Ruben Vezo, Renato Sanches, Ricardo Pereira, Nelson Semedo Mozambique - Eusébio, Abel Xavier Angola - William Carvalho, Joao Mario, Florentino Luis, Rafael Leao, Rafael Camacho I'm know there are many more players that could be quite easily added to that list, but I think you'll get the picture! Also have the big leagues of Europe loaded, so I can keep an eye on the ups and downs. First think I noticed was the abundance of wide players. Now, with not a huge amount of cash to throw around, I decided it would be worthwhile cashing in on one of them, and then relying upon loans to build a squad capable of a promotion push. With no real squad rules (other than 3 players trained in Portugal, and at least 1 u23 player in squad) I really have a blank slate of who and where. The 5 highlighted players are my first team signings, the rest will go either to the B team or our u19 squad. Having spent a bit of time managing in South America served me very nicely here, with all 5 players joining from the continent. I think we've really done well. Certainly the first two will be straight into the first team, whilst the others will no doubt play a part in our season. All five would certainly be targets for us if they were to become available. Guerra will cost me around £29k over the season (loan fee plus wages), whilst Souza will cost around £80k (wages). Whilst this may seem quite an expenditure at the level, I notice the need to get out of this division, and to the Liga NOS as quickly as we can. With just 2 spots available to 16 teams (not counting Porto B and Benfica B). We've also managed to sell one of our wingers, Alvarinho (one of six at the club!) to Polish club Jagiellonia for a cool £120k, which covers the cost of these players. I think getting out of it in the first season is imperative, otherwise we risk losing our best players (Gauld, Isidoro, Fabricio and Lucca) to other teams who can financially outmuscle our offers with ease. Here's how the squad looks - Clearly our strengths are midfield, along with three really good ST for this level, who I am sure will be spearheading a promotion campaign!

One thing I hate about portugal, is there just seems to be so many players at each club, abit like italy. drives me away from starting a save, especially when i am so itchy about finding a club that gets me sucked in lately!

Totally agree. I think it's more a top division thing, as the squad I had to start with wasn't too bad. That being said, I've released every single u19

I wont post a thread, but i started a C&C save in Qatar... league almost won in first season. time to try improve the 9 foriegners im allowed in league. also time to try plug and find those cheap but good qatar nationals, or cheaper foriegn players that have got qatari nationals, both for the club and for the country noticed in the cups, the fgn rules are relaxed, so might be able to grab some 18 year old cheap but better than qatari players from brazil for cup play. as for country do hosts not auto qualify for WC? and Qatar in copa america..luckily not got brazil or argentina in the group. as for WC group and our ranking is going up

Decent start there StuW, great squad for the level you're at. I've seen Nicolás Guerra play IRL as he plays for my favourite team, Universidad de Chile (and I've managed him on FM20, as my save is a Chile C&C with La U), and he can be quite inconsistent, plus the "balanced" personality doesn't really help at all. He's got decent potential though (which he's lost in real life actually as he's stagnated a ton after his explosive debut as an 18-year old), hopefully he's good for you. Ahhh come on jawzy mate! We need more threads and what you're doing in this post is thread material without a doubt. Good work so far in the Qualifiers which mean nothing as I guess as you're automatically qualified (better to play them than to struggle to get friendlies on those dates) and amazing luck in the Copa América draw. Top 4 teams qualify, so you should qualify by just beating Bolivia and Paraguay.

Though the Qatari youth intake in whole of Qatari was very disapointing, it ruined motivation to continue.
If i feel something would "stick" I would probably give it a thread.

Guerra really struggled for me, think he got 1 goal in 18 or 19 apps. Did get promoted quite easily in the end, finishing 2nd behind Nacional Madeira. 2nd season done as well! We flew out of the blocks after a super busy transfer window (15 first team signings, mostly on free. Couple of signings in winter, main one being Guilherme Nunes (£1.3m from Santos) and Miles Anderson (free from Atlanta). Our form went to the toilet from Jan, and we managed somehow to scrape into 4th place, finishing above Sporting, and also relegating Boavista with a final day win. Best signing could go to any of four or five. Fabinho came in and really did well in MC (we lost Gauld towards end of season due to injury - he is in u19 squad for now) whilst Aguero was really solid at DC once he settled. Guaigon as well was immense, a free transfer who was simply magic. Also our deadline day signing of Soares made sure we could score goals, having joined on loan from Porto. We've also won the Portuguese cup back to back! which has certainly helped our finances, with European qualification. We managed to see off Porto in the first season final, a 97t minute penalty sealed our first trophy. Another 1-0 win this season, this time against Rio Ave. SO, we're doing alright. Facilities are just awful (really awful), we've managed to get a couple of upgrades here and there, but we're still at similar level to 3rd tier teams, if not worse. Here's our first EL run - Have to say I'd not have thought wed get past the group! But, 2nd KO round meant we're really doing well! Now waiting for elections, current "owner" is not doing much for us. Sad thing is, if we don't get one that's ambitious or wants to pump money in, it might be the end of the save, as we are so far behind the whole league when it comes to the stadium, training and youth facilities, it's going to take a long, long time to get anywhere close to the right level, and will be impossible if the new guy doesn't want to

Finished my second season with Palermo with another convincing title win, although it looked easier than it was. Up to about 23 games in Trapani was putting up a real fight and were only 1 point behind me, but their form fell of a cliff at some point. Onto the Serie B now, curious what we can do there!

Sure, both are in third season, so may be slightly less/more impressive Guiagon. I sold for £13.75m - Mustafa Kapi sold for £7.5m -

I'm halfway through my third season with Palermo, and things are going really well! I found some good free agents in the summer that could play for a bad side at the Serie A level, and used the loan market to strengthen in areas it was necessary. The prospects to go up again look good, Benevento has been ridiculous and we were happy to get away with a draw there, but we also have a healthy margin to Spezia. Even though I haven't spent anything on transfers yet and even got some money in by selling players, financially we aren't very solid. Right now, at the end of December, we are 2 million in the black but this is projected to be the same amount in the red at the end of the season. We have the third largest average attendance and the second lowest wage expenditure in the league, so other teams must be making way more money from other sources of income. Hopefully, if we go up, tv money in the Serie A will make us profitable and I feel like if we manage to promote we have a good chance to stay up, as we already beat SPAL and Cagliari in the qualification rounds of the cup. Due to the stupid nature of the cup, with the 8 best teams of the Serie A automatically all playing at home in the first round, we now have an away trip to Juventus coming up so that will be fun. Or not.

We have done it! In the penultimate game we played Benevento, and a 92nd minute equalizer made it 1-1, the same result as the first game with them. This meant goal difference was decisive, and we were clearly ahead of them. A 2-5 win against relegated Viterbese secured the title! In the cup Juventus beat us unsurprisingly, but 2-1 wasn't bad at all. Prize money brought us back to €3m in the bank, and the board gave me €9.8m to spend with a wage budget of €136k per week. It doesn't seem smart to spend this given our financial situation, and the wage budget is the same as the average in the Serie B doesn't even come close to the lowest budget in the top tier, so we are up for a tough task! I hope to get some decent loanies and and find some good free agents, because I'm afraid that's still the market we'll have to search in.

Thanks for the kind words! I was hoping that with Serie A football coming up I would be able to attract some good players, but that turned out to be more difficult than I thought. In the end we did strengthen quite well I think, but we had to use the loan market a bit more than I liked. Some of them are with reasonable future fees if I decide to buy them permanently though. One of them is this guy from Atletico Madrid. His personality is bad and his pace and finishing could use some improvement, but there is a lot of talent. I have the option to buy him for €15m, but I doubt I'll have the budget for that and that he'll want to join me. This is my current squad. Accardi, Crivelli, Lucera and De Marco (a regen) were there already in the Serie D, and will still do a job for me. André Anderson and Henry Borja are the first players I paid a fee for. Borja is a Colombian regen I signed from Millionaros. The youth intakes have been pretty good. Many of the players coming through have low potential with often bad personalities, but I have had 2 good ones in the last 2 intakes. Especially Inzerillo should become a fantastic players. He came through our youth ranks last season and I'm planning to play him quite a bit as I feel like he has everything to become world class, if his natural fitness doesn't let him down. Our Serie A return couldn't have started better than with a shock defeat at the San Siro. Just 4 games in, I'm pretty sure we should be able to avoid the drop, despite spending so much less on wages than the rest of the league. This is the tactic I'm using, which gets me ridiculous results. It's surprisingly solid at the back too for such an offensive tactic, I feel like the heavy press is overpowered in this ME. Before my Palermo save I played 1,5 season with PSV Eindhoven using this tactic till I got bored, my goal difference after the 19 league games I played was 89-6. Hopefully this season will bring us financial stability and a decent league position. I'm very excited for it!

I'm using the one from this pack: community.sigames.com/topic/504270-fm20-2041-leagues-mega-pack-227-nations-5-other-compet-by-timo/ Haven't experienced any problems yet so it seems fine! I read that there are very strict rules in the Serie D about using youngsters (i.e. you have to have quite many of them in your line-up), but this is not included in this editor file. Also, in Serie C and D you can make 5 substitutions. Not sure that is the case in real life, but I liked it. I'd also advice to only load up to Serie D and remove it as soon as possible, as there are many regional leagues that will slow up your save.

Wow! I didn't expect to have been pretty much sure of survival at the halfway mark! It's already halfway February and we have only played 19 games due to the World Cup in Qatar, but things are still going great. Except for Lazio Roma whom we lost to, we somehow beat all teams above us and we are looking at the European places right now. In the cup we drew Juventus again in the first round, and lost 2-1 again, so hopefully we'll finish in the top 8 so this scenario won't happen again next year.
