Glad to see you're well, Mikey! It's just one of those things, we all get older and have less time to play (or, should have less time but I just neglect everything else ) we'll see what happens once 22 comes around, but I think a lot of the community has moved on to things like Discord and, to a lesser extent, reddit, twitch and youtube.

I've never got on with discord. I'm old school and prefer a nice forum. It's not just this forum that has lost activity either. Young people these days don't use forums, most of us forum people are at least in our twenties.
Anyway, managing Cwmbran Celtic is fun and a lot different to any team I've managed before. We have a wage budget of £500 p/w. So yeah, not great is it? Haha.

Prefer forums for fm. And i am in my 30s
I still not brought a gaming laptop or transferred my gaming pc this way. But did briefly try fmt21 on a non gaming laptop. But ended up trying fm21, and im considering doing a short term aussie league game.

Jawzys what Australian team are you thinking of managing? I only manage Melbourne Victory. I actually recently had a save with them. Came third in my first season, and came runners up in the Finals Series. Sadly was sacked second season due to poor form.
That tends to happen to me on this FM. I get "second season syndrome" Happened with Melbourne Victory, and then managing Cwmbran Celtic, we are predicted to finish 12th. I came second in my first year missing out on promotion by one point, second season I'm now bottom after 15 games. Not sure what I do wrong.

Ive had a failed start with brisbane roar.
In fm20 kept trying macurther.
I will probably see if victory or central coast prove to be fun.
I want a league, that i can run on a small db. So if aussie dont work for me, no doubt ill look at other asian nations or maybe columbia?

Think aussie just not gripping me Ended up giving Renhe in second tier of china a go But obviously irl Renhe like what seems a few china sides have dissolved. So knowing that i fear i might unfortunatly wane interest.

Ps dale.
These seagulls i had somewhat got used yo the insane night noise. But the last few nights i have been restless and it wasnt until just now i have noticed how calm the outside noise is. Did all the seagulls die off in the recent heat? Or they actually sleeping for once?

Did all the seagulls die off in the recent heat? Or they actually sleeping for once? Haha, I'm not entirely sure tbh but there's definitely a fair few less of them around work and the walk home at the moment, and a few more dead ones popping up on the way too....so I'm not entirely sure but, you know, fuck 'em. There, I said it. Fuck. The. Seagulls. But not literally, that's rank.

Talking of rank and seagull
Someone in cornwall few weeks ago had a doughnut stolen by a seagull so the guy managed to grab the gull by the neck and hold the gull untill gull released doughnut. The guy then proceeded to resume eating the doughnut. O.o

^^ That's fucked up!
Any of you guys been playing the older FM games? I'm getting an old laptop from my parents place and I'm really tempted to start a save on FM11. It's my favourite of the series. Only problem I may encounter is the game came out before windows 10/11.

Just realised you're posting as a guest. Did you forget your password Jawzys? Could always make a new account.
Have to wait slightly longer now to get my old laptop. Dad originally said be a couple weeks, now he's going to be a month at least... Half tempted to buy a laptop as I really want to play FM11 again haha.

Decided to while in my current laptop situation to dabble with trying to win a world cup. So brazil it is.

Only problem I may encounter is the game came out before windows 10/11. FM11 runs fine on Windows 10, so you shouldn't have a problem there. I'm dabbling with it right now, but I'm finding that my issue is not so much with which version but with the sheer amount of time it takes to make any progress in a save.
PS. The seagulls are now down in Colchester, screaming to each other at 4.30am EVERY FUCKING MORNING.

What specs does your laptop or computer have that you're playing FM11 on Marshdweller . I'm liking that it will work on W10, not liking that your game takes ages to progress. How many leagues do you have loaded? I still have to wait a while, which is annoying, is it sad that I've been counting down the days? I really want to play FM11 again. I'm going to fromat the laptop because it's old so it will be back on Windows 7. Hopefully I don't have too many problems. Colchester is quite close to me. I don't have a seagull problem, but I do have a wasp problem! I have two nests, one at the front of my house and one at the back, I have to keep windows and doors shut now, as the other night loads of them got in and I had to spend ages trying to lure them out. Come winter I will fill in the holes where they are nesting in, can't right now due to them using it.

Though not sure if ill get far with spain. Ended up getting knocked out by france in the quarters. Either ill stick with spain for euros. Or wait for another higher profiled country to become available.

I'm not the most techy person Mikey, so hopefully the numbers I'm about to spout make some sense... Windows 10 64-bit Intel Core i5-8250U CPU @ 1.60GHz 8GB RAM Intel UHD graphics 620
The speed of progress is not down to the computer, it just takes me ages to get from match to match because I get an hour here and half an hour there rather than any time for a sustained session.

That's perfect, thanks Marshdweller. Other than the RAM my old laptop (or one I'm thinking of buying as I'm impatient) is better than that, so should run FM11 fine. As you're using W10, did you have to install anything to get FM11 to work? Or did it just work straight away on Steam? I've been reading up about it, and seems some people can't run it and others can.

I installed straight from Steam and it worked right away.
I had also installed FM09 just to take a peek at an old favourite save and that installed something like DirectX 11(?) which may have helped.

Well now to generate a shortlist of clubs that i want to dabble with when i get access to a faster machine.
African Kiaser chiefs or even orlando pirates, both sides not won league in a while.
Asian Tempted to see how i can do with Johor or Jeonbuk, can these two wealthy sides compete with the rich nations in ACL
North/south america Peruvian league could prove a fun mess, saw a reddit post where a human controlled side got deducted 55 points for not meeting a rule, sometimes ai struggle apperently.
River or boca or another bigger argentine side
European, where am most likely to end up West ham or Newcastle are always my go to epl sides Feyenoord Maccabi tel aviv Spartak moscow Lyon Wisla
Now am based in scotland and didnt actually have a scottish save in fm21. Half tempted. But no idea whom.

jawzy Scotland is fun to manage in. I always have a save there. I manage Elgin City as they're in the lowest playable league. My aim whenever I manage them is to get them promoted into the SPL and challenge Rangers/Celtic and then European glory. Guess it depends on what sort of team you like to manage; high, middle or lower league team.

As i have got older. The desire for small small clubs has drastically reduced. Prefer to usually be a middling top flight club or a side that hasnt won a title in 3 to 5 years

I don't play as Scottish teams at all but would have thought someone like Motherwell is a good middling team to take on.

If all goes well, I should have a laptop on Wednesday. I can't wait tbh because I've been bored lately and having the option to play on Steam again will give me something to do. I'm going to start a save as Blackpool on FM11. They are in the Premiership for the first time and when they won the Play Off's against Cardiff they were predicted to get relegated that year. Judging by that their squad is Lower Championship/League One ability. So, it's going to be a fun challenge to keep them up without no signings. Fingers crossed it's a long save for me because I've wanted to do this challenge for a long time and my longest save on any FM game is only 5 seasons.
Although the *Your game* section is for FM21, if you guys are okay with it; I'll post my progress in there. There hasn't been a post since May, so don't see it being a problem... I just like to post my progress when playing, makes it more fun for me.

Ill be posting musings and tidbits if i get semi hooked on fm21 with my new laptop.
There was a point where i was gonna try do a motorsport manager story in the your game but i wasnt 100% sure how to present it to a forum lol

I think I might do a St. Johnstone save. It's my local club and all that, and despite being a Rangers fan, any old firm save is boring as fuck. I've been playing CM01/02 a lot again recently, taking Peterhead from League 2 to SPL Champions... Leroy Lita and Lanre Bimbo Fatokun (a 30k signing from Scarborough, no less) leading the way. But the Old Firm got angry (and Kilmarnock somehow appeared) as Celtic went and signed Denilson, Casillas and Klose, whilst Rangers picked up a young 25 year old Spanish striker on a free transfer, think his name was Fernando Torres or something, never head of him. Meanwhile, a 32 year old, 5 time capped English player called Lampard is strutting his stuff at Aberdeen of all teams. It's been fun, but I kinda fancy getting back on the FM bandwagon soon (when I can tear myself away from replaying Witcher 3). I've got an 8 or so season save in Poland going, but it's been a minute since I played that, so i'm not sure how much I'll remember and want to play again

So, I did get my laptop on Wednesday and it's been a let down tbh. It's a lot bulkier than I wanted; I prefer small laptops and although the screen is small, it's a very heavy laptop, FM11 runs, but for some reason it takes forever on the loading screen and I just can't used to this laptop. I'll most likely use this for playing shooting games; TF2, L42 etc. and when I see my dad in September I'll use that laptop for FM11. It's an 11 inch laptop, so very small, whereas this new one is 14 inch.
2 weeks to go...
