Not going to lie, I don't have the motivation to create a career thread (yet) so, I'll just post about my Blackpool save in this thread...
Pre-Season went well, we won 4 out of 5 friendlies, drawing the other. DJ Campbell scored in every match and Elliot Grandin scored 3 goals as well.
Season started with us playing at home against Birmingham, we went 1-0 down from a corner, but late on scored through Elliot Grandin, sadly DJ Campbell got injured just 3 minutes into the match and is now out for 5 weeks. Second match we played the Europa League runner-ups - Fulham. Yep, remember when Fulham were qualifying for Europe and beating Juventus? We lost 2-0, we went 1-0 down to another corner and so I went all out attacking and it cost us as they scored a late goal.
Next match is Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup.

Turns out my back up team is shit as we lost 3-2 to Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup, followed by defeats to Sunderland (4-0) and Man City (3-1) I knew this challenge was going to be hard, but not this hard!

I have decided to see what i can do at Galatasaray Old squad, poor facilities, lacking domestic talent. finances initially not great, high expectations but does need a rebuild, also for the first few seasons the number of foriegners we can have and use in first 11 decreases. So need to be on the look out for fomestic talent is my first 11 that drew 1-1 with Denzilspor

Sunderland iirc on fm11 are fairly decent though? Aye, they have Asamoah Gyan and Darren Bent up front, both scoring for fun. We picked up our fist win of the season; beating Wigan 3-0. Elliot Grandin is scoring for fun atm.

Might try a different side that is historically top dog but is struggling Fc kobenhavn in denmark? Prolly the most dominant of the following sides.
Anderlecht Goteborg Brondby Hadjuk Hjk Fh

Just to chip in, I'm currently playing with Oldham, currently at the end of the 2026-27 season. I started off with fictional player names to spice things up and it's been so far a great save for me, re-kindling my love for FM. Here's the season's results so far: 2020-21: Won League Two (96 points), lost in FA Cup Third Round against Middlesbrough, lost in the EFL Cup Fourth Round against Arsenal, lost in the EFL Trophy Second Round against Carlisle. 2021-22: 2nd in League One (89 points, promoted directly), lost in the the FA Cup Fifth Round against Everton, lost in the EFL Cup Second Round against Derby, lost in the EFL Trophy Second Round against Doncaster. 2022-23: 4th in the Championship (82 points, promoted via Playoffs), lost in the FA Cup Quarter Final against Manchester United, lost in the EFL Cup First Round against Derby. 2023-24: 8th in the Premier League (50 points, didn't qualify for Continental Competitions), lost in the FA Cup Final against Manchester City, lost in the EFL Cup Fourth Round against Manchester City. 2024-25: 6th in the Premier League (66 points, qualified for the UEFA Europa League), lost in the FA Cup Semifinal against Arsenal, lost in the EFL Cup Fourth Round against Newcastle. 2025-26: 5th in the Premier League (73 points, qualified for the UEFA Europa League), lost in the UEFA Europa League Semifinal against Sevilla (4-5 on aggregate), lost in the FA Cup Final against Arsenal, won the EFL Cup, beating Liverpool in the Final. I'm currently at the end of the 2026-27 season, fighting for the Premier League, in a super tight three way tie with Manchester United and Chelsea. I play against West Ham, Reading and Sheffield United, Man U plays Everton, Manchester City and Chelsea and Chelsea plays Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United. So clearly the easiest schedule is for me and both the other teams can lose points. Let's see what happens. I'm currently again in the UEFA Europa League Semifinals, this time I'll play Lille, which is a far easier draw. If I get onto the Final it's against Milan or Southampton, both winnable rivals. I didn't fare that well on the Domestic Cups though, losing in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup against Leeds and in the Final of the EFL Cup against Chelsea. My top players currently are: And here are the squad stats this season: Also, Brazil after losing in the Second Round of the 2026 World Cup offered me the job and despite not really wanting "to add" to this save, you can't really say no to "The Canarinha", so I'm their manager as well haha. Only played 2 friendlies though, so little to report there.

Thats something i never have done, play with fictional players. A random Thai in your squad, is he the best Thai by miles?

Thats something i never have done, play with fictional players. A random Thai in your squad, is he the best Thai by miles? I don't know if you're aware on how it works, but it's not really "fictional players". It's just the names that are randomized as players get to keep their nationalities, attritbutes and positions on almost all the cases, for instance there's an Argentinean AMRC/ST on Barcelona within Messi's age, but named differently. This happens almost every time, but I've noticed a few changes, in Liverpool in place of Salah there was a Cameroonian AMRLC/ST within Salah's age range. I don't know why this happens though and how the game selects which players to emulate completely and which to change something random. Anyways this added a great refreshing factor to the save and I think that whenever I start in lower leagues I'll play with this feature on, as already by the time I get to sign bigger reputation players, the will mostly be newgens as well. Well, onto the end of the season. Remember when I said we had the easiest schedule? Well, we bottled it. We lost the first game against West Ham, who were 18th in the table and ManU was crowned champions as they won their game putting them 7 points clear of us in 2nd. We then managed to keep shitting our pants, with a 0-0 draw against Reading who were 17th in the table. Heading into the last game, and with the UEFA Europa League Final on the horizon (10 days later, but still) I decided to play with an all backup formation and lost the last game as well against Sheffield United. Still, a record high for us and our first chance to play in the UEFA Champions League. United had a fantastic season, and topping them would've been epic, but I'll be back stronger. We did manage to win the UEFA Europa League though which was fantastic. Onto next season, I'm aiming to try and splash some cash to try and acquire a central midfielder and a right inside forward which are our top positions of need. It'll be expensive, but worth it.

Looking good chaodck, that's impressive. I'm once again trying to wean myself off of CM0102 and come back to FM but I can't settle on a team or a reason for a save. Part of me fancies Brazil, for the sheer quality of regens, but there's just something about not playing in the champions league that gets to me, sometimes. Like, I'm tempted by MLS too, but my god the CONCACAF CL is just a massive pile of shit, isn't it? So I don't really know. My usual tactic of some minnow nation in southeast europe doesn't appeal as much and I'm absolutely shite at the game, so a bigger team in a bigger league is usually a definite no, lol. I was hoping to start something tonight, but it might need to wait for me to think it over.

Don't let children near your laptop.
As some of you may know I recently bought a new laptop, it might be over a month old or just under, anyway, my son decided to throw it on the floor and it broke, I've managed to get it fixed (lost everything on there though) so I've restarted with Blackpool, but the little bugger when he dropped it has broke the battery, if I take the charger out the laptop completely dies now. Fun!

Not sure if I'm going to start a thread on this, since I tend to peter out after a while, but after some time away for other games and settling into my new job, I was inspired to get back to FM. I decided to start up with Brescia. Brescia won Serie B in 2019-2020, and then went right back down last year, which shows there's a foundation here, but some work to do. One big loss is creative DLP Sandro Tonali, who was loaned to AC Milan with a future fee of 13.7M. Tonali's loan will help our finances though, as Milan is paying us 1.1M/month for the privilege. TacticsFor my tactics, I want to use a regista, which is a role I haven't played with at all yet. So I'm going to work with a base 3-5-2, something like this (I haven't yet sorted out my first XI, but this is a guess at who might line up where): This is the basic dynamic I want, but we'll see how I have to tweak roles and instructions to get it to work. Bisoli is a BWM-S and will hopefully help cover for the regista along with the 3 centerbacks. Jagiello isn't an ideal regista, but he's a good passer and is reasonably creative, so he'll do in the absence of Tonali. I might change him to a DLP-S for now, since his flair isn't great, but as with everything else, we'll see how. Semprini is set as a WB-D, which means he'll get forward decently (all wingbacks do), but will be more conservative, while Pajac will start on a support duty and Mangraviti can flex out wide (he's also an LB) to help build and provide cover. On the right, Lobojko is set to be a MEZ-A to get him into the half-space and help progress the ball while Semprini is playing a bit deeper, and so he can help combine with both Skrabb and Semprini and hopefully provide an overload on that side. The board wants us to play possession football, and I agree 100%. We're playing with a higher line (our CBs aren't blazing quick, so we'll see how that goes for now, but they do have good positioning which will hopefully help) and will look to press with the more attacking players. We want to build from the back, getting the ball to the regista and letting him do his work, so we're working with a lower tempo. TrainingUnless people want, I won't bother posting screenshots of all of my training schedules, but I'm making them myself again using similar principles as before. I've spoilered an overview of the ideas. Since we want to control possession and press, the key attributes that we want to train are First Touch, Dribbling, Passing, Tackling, Positioning, Anticipation, Composure, Teamwork, Vision, and Decisions, and sessions are chosen that focus on these (as well as related attributes like Off The Ball, Marking, and Concentration). First, preseason. Our goals in preseason are to get players back in match shape, get them familiar and firing with the main tactics, and build team cohesion. This is the only time when we will use explicit physical sessions; otherwise physical work comes on the pitch. I'm less concerned with building technical skills aside from those which are core to executing the tactic. Preseason Week 1: During pre-season, the early goal as soon as the players are back is to run them into the ground to get their fitness up. We use either the Physical session or the individual Endurance/Resistance/Quickness sessions every day, occasionally multiple times. We will use the general Possession and Tactical sessions as active recoveries to get them used to being on the ball again. The week ends with a match practice after a teamwork session. This should really get their work rate and physical attributes moving, as well as some mental/teamwork work as we go through the tactics and group sessions. There's a high injury risk, but we're early in preseason, so it's not the end of the world if we have some minor injuries. Preseason Week 2: After that initial "shock and awe" week, we want to begin transitioning to building team cohesion and tactical familiarity. The next week will involve only one friendly on Saturday and will still see physical sessions, but we're mixing in more ball and tactical work. Every day until Friday will involve one physical session and two general sessions focused on big groups. Friday we get back to more tactical work ahead of the friendly on Saturday, and Sunday is a typical recovery/match review/team bonding post-match day. We're still getting some physical stimuli, but we're shifting much more to working on tactics and mental attributes. Preseason Mid: Now we switch to ramping up to the season, with two friendlies a week on Tue and Sat. We also start working on more core technical aspects of play in addition to some tactical work. We have one physical session mixed in, but more of the conditioning should come from the friendlies. Preseason End: In the last week of preseason, we want to move completely to season prep mode. We'll go back to one friendly to minimize the risk of injuries and focus more on technical training and team cohesion. In-season, we have to back off the intensity because the matches actually matter. The periodization schedule that I'm using (with our MD of Saturday) is: - MD+1 (Sunday): Recovery, Match Review, Team Bonding. This is a light day focused on recovering and reflecting on what worked and didn't work in the last match.
- MD+2 (Monday): Tactical Overview. This is a very light day to help finish recovering from the previous match. We just use shadow play and general tactical sessions to build on the match review.
- MD-4 (Tuesday): Early in the season, this is big-unit work focused on attacking, defending, and tactical principles. Deeper in the season, we will use specific sessions focused on addressing issues from the last match.
- MD-3 (Wednesday): This is when we begin preparation for the next match. We'll work on basic attacking, defending, and transition patterns.
- MD-2 (Thursday): Now we focus on the game model for the next match. We'll work on more specific technical details in smaller groups: finishing patterns, creating chances, specific defensive situations, set pieces, etc. Along with MD-4, this is the day that is most likely to vary from week to week depending on the match schedule.
- MD-1 (Friday): This is match prep day. Our focus is on tactics and whatever emphasis is needed for the next match (attacking movement vs. defensive positioning, etc).
General Training: This is our core in-season training session, working on the general basics of the tactic. We will use this early on in the regime and when we have enough new players that we need to get everyone up to speed on the system. Possession: This training schedule focuses on the attacking phase of play. We will use this when we really want to focus on dominating an inferior team or we're at home against a similar team and can expect to be on the front foot. This also involves work on goalkeeping distribution and attacking set pieces. There can be some flexibility here on MD-4/MD-2 based on specific attacking principles that we need to work on, like if we've struggled to finish or on deliveries from out wide. Defending: This schedule focuses on the defending phase of play and quickly transitioning from defense to attack. We will use this session when we're playing away at a similar team or against a bigger team and need to keep things tight at the back while making sure we can get into our attacking phase. We will also work on goalkeeping and defending set pieces. Once again, there is some flexibility on MD-2/MD-4 if we've struggled with e.g. defending crosses. Match Congestion: When we have 2-3 matches a week, periodization goes out the window, and the emphasis is on match recovery and preparation. Any free sessions are focused on the upcoming match. I'm also working on some schedules for the U18 and U20s. When in the U18s, we want to work on physical, mental, and overall development at the expense of technical work. Tactical familiarity will come from using our tactics in the matches, but we really just want to see how the players progress and emphasize individual roles less. Players in the U20s will transition to working on roles and more technical skills as we see if they have what it takes to play for the first team. Board ExpectationsUnsurprisingly, the board wants us to emphasize signing young Italian players. Hopefully we can build the youth system up to be self-sufficient, but the business model is to sign promising youth, develop them, and sell them for a profit. They also want us to finish top 3 this season in preparation for promotion in 2022. The season preview has us 7th, so we'll need to overperform expectations to achieve this. They'd also like us to get to the fourth round of the Coppa Italia.

Good first season jawzy , good luck in the Bundesliga. Also, I never showed you my Thai player haha. He's an academy recruit, dual National Thai/English, declared for Thailand in 2025 and debuted for the NT at 17 years, 2 months in 2026. He's by far the most valued Thai player at £700k (next one is £130k) and is quite a good prospect for us, despite being a defensive minded fullback. I might consider playing him as a CB down the road, but I think his projection there isn't as great than as a fullback. Cheers mate, dalenichol glad to see you still lurking around haha. What about Ukraine or Russia for a new save? Something locally big maybe and try to conquer Europe? Maybe Dynamo Kyiv (and its fight against Shakhtar) or Dynamo Moscow in Russia? Maybe Sochi if you want to aim higher or Krasnodar who in my saves always produce decent newgens. Sorry to hear about your laptop Mikey , if that's not a powerful argument for contraception I don't know what it is. Cheers mate! EDIT: Managed to miss your post there hokster, great to see you around here again! Brescia sounds like a nice save mate, signing young italian talent is a nice way to build-upon. Good luck!

Great to see you back, hokster. jawzy Austria is a country that I've tried a few times and never found success in, so that's definitely a good, solid shout. chaodck one of my last saves on FM was a 6 year stint with Obolon Brovar in Ukraine, ended up winning the top tier once, but it all went to shit afterwards as FM tends to do, so I'll maybe stay clear of there for now. Krasnodar do produce some cracking regens though. Russia, Like Turkey, are one of those financially iffy, overpaid foreigner bloated leagues that I really don't try enough. I might load Austria, Russia and Turkey to take a look around all 3... So much for Brazil

Now I have my laptop back I decided to start my Blackpool save on Football Manager 2011 again. Originally I was using the default patch for nostalgic reasons, but this time I'm using the latest patch with the January transfers. First thing I did was cancel all the loans to make the challenge even harder. Pre-Season went well winning all 5 of my matches but I know pre-season means nothing. We started the League season of with a game against Arsenal, I wasn't expecting much going into the game, but after 73 minutes we were drawing 0-0 and I thought we might snatch a point, unfortunately Arsenal scored two late goals from set-pieces to win. Fans were upset with the result which is funny, come on it's Arsenal... We then lost to Fulham and Everton in the league, and at this point every league goal we conceded was a set-piece - training is now set to practise defending set-pieces and we haven't conceded from one since. Sandwiched between them defeats was an embarrassing Carling Cup defeat to Stevenage...moving on. We picked up our first points of the season with a 2-0 win against Birmingham, knowing that they are of similar quality to me, I went all out attacking and it worked as we scored twice and got a clean sheet. My first official goal scorer is a Ian Evatt, a Centre Back. A draw with Sunderland followed; giving us 4 points out of 6. A heavy defeat by Blackburn followed sadly before taking on Stoke, before the Stoke match my assistant informed me that they had lost every league game so far, I decided to go all out attacking and we went 1-0 after 5 minutes.. I then changed the approach to counter and it worked as shortly after we scored from a corner, Elliot Grandin shot hitting Jermaine Pennant and went in. Charlie Adam then scored a goal of the season contended from 30 yards to give us another win and make it 7 points out of 12 before playing Manchester City. As you can see; we have only scored 4 goals, not great but we are picking up points which is the main thing. I know it's early days, but I will happily take 13th place! I'm hoping this save will be a long term one

That's an interesting strategy Mikey, I like it. I finally decided on a team!! FC Austria Klagenfurt. Based in Klagenfurt, funnily enough, which is Austria's 6th biggest city, and the capital of the Carinthian region. The club play in the 2.Liga, the 2nd tier of Austrian football, however the club will be in the Bundesliga next season (well, in FM22) having been promoted this season. We don't have such a luxury on FM, so it's the 2nd tier for me! The club do however boast "Good" youth and training facilities and a fairly beautiful 32,000 seater Worthersee Stadion, which was renovated for the 2008 European Championships (That has to be up there with the Neuer Tivoli (german 4th tier) as one of my favourite lower league stadiums) So aye, we'll see how this goes!

Pre-Season's over at Oldham. Building upon the club's best season so far with a 3rd place Premier League finish and the UEFA Europa League title comes 2027-28 and our first foray into the UEFA Champions League. By the end of last season I had already realised where we had our "weak spots" and what I wanted to improve upon and thus scouted towards those areas and I even decided who I wanted to get early on in a few positions. Coming in, a few big prices paid, specially Edoardo Federici and Amade Manhique who cost us over £80M combined. Both are fantastic players though and will be starteing from the get-go. Surely I overpaid, but that's how it goes. We managed to sell Lilian Barre our starting LB early in the pre-season as Marseille came for him and paid what I wanted, so I had to go shopping for a LB. Real Madrid had a player on the chopping block for a great price and I jumped quickly to snatch Víctor López who cheekily negotiated his salary twice after the initial agreement and ended up being our top paid player. He's surely not worth that, but he's clearly an improvement over Barre and for a £12M profit comparing both players. Finally I saved the best for last, as of our four starting transfers, without a shred of a doubt the best one was Oliver Bach, an 18 year-old kid who dominated the Danish league last season, leading FCK to an easy title, while breaking all kind of records and sweeping all the awards. As he's an out-and-out winger, he'll move captain Sebastián Castillo to the right flank, while he learns how to play as a Right Inside Forward. He's a BEAST. The rest of the players are either backups, Rodríguez (who came in on a games fee after a loan last season) and Chacón or players who'll be in the U-23's, in the case of Vieira and Gálvez. As Chacón is a wonderkid, I'll upload a pic of him as well. Despite the huge spending spree, I managed to "only" net spend around £30M, due to huge player sales as well. The Pre-season went about great, beating a few good teams and winning the Inter-Continental Champions Shield, played against Cruzeiro as they won the Copa Sudamericana. We beat them 2-0 in our first game of the pre-season. A few weeks later we closed out the pre-season with a beating of Mónaco, a fantastic 4-1 win. Our starting calendar is super rough though (I don't know why I always play a few of the big teams in the first weeks of the season...), as we'll face Man City (H), Man United (N, UEFA Super Cup), Tottenham (A), Chelsea (H) and Liverpool (A) in August, followed by a more chill September where we'll play Crystal Palace (H), Burnley (A), the First Round of the EFL Cup and Newcastle (H), as well as the start of the Group Phase of the UEFA Champions League.

I'm hoping this save will be a long term one Good start mate, interesting to see an old game save here. I would've loved an old DB save though. Great to have you playing buddy! That's a nice nice nice stadium.
